This activity is in the form of a story map and a video about important archaeological sites in Wyoming, which includes several interactive web maps that allow students to zoom in and out to compare locations of archaeological sites in Wyoming and click on for photos and more information. Students will be able to compare the different archaeological time periods and types of sites such as rock art, sacred sites and hunting sites. Students can explore sacred and historical sites important to the Lakota tribes greater detail at this story map about northeastern Wyoming and the Black Hills. This resource includes interactive maps and videos narrated by Lakota historian, Donovan Sprague. Students find and calculate the angle that light is transmitted through a holographic diffraction grating using trigonometry. After finding this angle, student teams design and build their own spectrographs, researching and designing a ground- or space-based mission using their creation. At project end, teams present their findings to the class, as if they were making an engineering conference presentation. Student must have completed the associated Building a Fancy Spectrograph activity before attempting this activity.

This e-Book is a first step toward a shift in the role of the printed textbook from authoritative serial repository to modular, customizable, linkable, interactive hub. The ideal modern textbook should provide a clear overview of the domain, short summaries of key content, links to more detailed online source material, embedded self-assessment, and a vehicle for instant student feedback. This open-source e-Book for introductory mechanics uses ideas from modeling physics to encourage strategic, concept-based problem solving and employs a wiki format to enable multiple parallel organizations of the material, links to resources and student comments. This project is intended to be an activating project for the Civil War. Students will each be assigned a battle to research and essentially become the expert on the battle through the creation of a technology based project as well as a battle poster. After the completeion of the posters they should be displayed within the classroom in chronological order. This will allow the classroom to see the turning of the tide during the Civil War. Watershed Awareness using Technology and Environmental Research for Sustainability (WATERS)
The WATERS project is developing and researching a student-centered, place-based, and accessible curriculum for teaching watershed concepts and water career awareness for students in the middle grades. This 10-lesson unit includes online, classroom, and field activities. Students use a professional-grade online GIS modeling resource, simulations, sensors, and other interactive resources to collect environmental data and analyze their local watershed issues. The WATERS project is paving a path to increased access to research-based, open access curricula that hold the potential to significantly increase awareness of and engagement with watershed concepts and career pathways in learners nationwide.

Students play and record the “Mary Had a Little Lamb” song using musical instruments and analyze the intensity of the sound using free audio editing and recording software. Then they use hollow Styrofoam half-spheres as acoustic mirrors (devices that reflect and focus sound), determine the radius of curvature of the mirror and calculate its focal length. Students place a microphone at the acoustic mirror focal point, re-record their songs, and compare the sound intensity on plot spectrums generated from their recordings both with and without the acoustic mirrors. A worksheet and KWL chart are provided.
