This is Experiment #2 in the Analytical Chemistry Lab sequence at MSU Denver. In this experiment, students will use spectroscopy to determine the concentration of iron in an unknown samples. Analytical techniques are covered including standard addition and how to accurately create standards.

This assignment was used in a Public Speaking course where students learned to build a variety of public speeches. The assignment aims to enable students to make connections to experience, to reflect and self-asses their learning. In line with the integrative learning core competency, they are also encouraged to make connections between and among academic disciplines. At the same time, it gives them the opportunity to broaden the possibilities for connections in their analyses, allowing them the ability to adapt & apply learning across diverse contexts.

This is a discussion for the class on a very true aspect of sports and how parents view their children within sports. 

This course will provide you with a comprehensive introduction to spreadsheets; it is designed for first-time users with very little or no exposure to the subject.

The goal of this lesson is for students to work with borders and basic formatting in a spreadsheet program so that it is useful and pleasing to the eye. This lesson encourages creativity with a maze creation and also collaboration in a shared spreadsheet that students then copy and format to make it pleasing to the eye.  It also offers students the chance to look at others’ creations and give feedback.

Students are asked to photograph something that shows either physical or chemical weathering. They must be in the photograph for purposes of scale. They must then write up their description of the weathering feature and explain the actual weathering processes. This assignment can also be expanded to include mass wasting and mass wasting prevention.

The Stages of Genocide Toolkit contains six case studies of historical genocide:• Armenian Genocide• Genocide in Cambodia• Genocide in Guatemala• The Holocaust• Genocide of Native Americans in the United States• Genocide in RwandaThese specific case studies were chosen for their wide geographic range and their place in modern historical chronology. It is important to note that these genocides are not the only examples of genocide that one can find throughout history, nor do the authors of this toolkit consider them to be “worse” or more important than those that are not included in this toolkit. We believe strongly that there is no place for a “hierarchy of suffering” in genocide education. Additionally, these summaries are not meant to be comprehensive histories of each genocide. They were written to align with Dr. Gregory Stanton’s Ten Stages of Genocide and as such, there are many historical details that are not included in the summaries.

The authors of this book adapted homework problems to improve accessibility and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the introductory statistics course they teach at Fitchburg State University. The problems are showcased in this book, but we have also incorporated them into our existing problem sets on an open-source online homework platform called WeBWorK. The problems can be used as a companion to the OpenStax textbook "Introductory Statistics" by Barbara Illowsky and Susan Dean or any other textbook for a semester-long introductory statistics course. On that platform, students will engage more fully with the questions, and a slightly different version of the same problem will be generated for each student.

This project targets 6th grade math students. The purpose of the project is to relate math to the real world. In particular, knowledge on graphs is used to interpret information on pollution. The project will review concepts learned such as range, domain, minimum, and maximum.

I have designed and presented the content within StatsforMedics specifically for use by undergraduate medical students who are considering use of statistics for short-term research projects. However, this is with the understanding that students from allied health sciences may also benefit from engaging with the site and its sister site, Statistics CALs. Also, I am currently exploring use of selected content for outreach work in pre-university sectors.

There are two main activities intended for undergraduate students to engage and deepen their knowledge in the field of stem cells. The first activity is more general and its aim is to familiarize students with the core concepts in stem cell and regenerative medicine. The second activity is a novel and current example of how induced pluripotent stem cells are being used in cutting edge biomedical research. The two publications suggested for students to read can be swapped for other examples.

Like other types of essays, it follows a specific structure and includes an introduction, several paragraphs of body content, and a conclusion. The main purpose of a personal narrative essay is to convince the reader of why the applicant would be a good fit for the college or university they apply to.
