In this activity, students will be discussing parties. First, they will use pre-made party invitations to try to convince fellow students to attend their party, and then students will pair up to discover their partner’s ideal party.

Students will talk about fun events and things to do in Spanish speaking countries. They will practice how to reject or accept an invitation, emphasizing a polite way to explain why you can or can't go. They will also decide on ways to discuss what they did at an event or activity with friends.

In this activity, students will review and practice naming their body parts in Spanish. They will also use the vocabulary they already know to give clues to their classmates to describe a body part. Students will practice asking and answering questions relating to the body and come up with solutions for illnesses.

In this activity the students are going to talk about their hobbies and what they like to do in their free time. They will have an opportunity to talk to other students in a "speed dating" type which will give each student the opportunity to meet someone new and also use their language tools to converse.

Pathways Project co-directors Kelly Arispe and Amber Hoye hosted a showcase of the Pathways Project on September 24th for the Boise State community and others interested in learning more about the work being done at Boise State.

The Pathways Project hosts a collection of over 450 classroom activities across 10 different languages, all collaboratively created by Idaho world language students and teachers. In this workshop, we’ll explore how we’ve used OER Commons to host these ancillary materials, our partnership with world language students and teachers, and share some lessons we’ve learned along the way! Participants will gain an understanding of the features of OER Commons, ideas for co-creating with students, and an understanding of resources available to K-16 language instructors.

In this activity, students will play 'Guess Who?' in teams or individuals. They will practice asking about the appearances of people politely and try to figure out who the unknown person is.

In this activity, students will take a fun quiz to find out what kind of traveler they are. This will allow students to understand how to describe interests and include words that associate with traveling.

In this activity students will team up and play pictionary to review vocabulary and verb phrases that may appear on semester finals.

In this lab students will practice interviewing a partner, as well as work and groups to plan an event. Students will begin by doing a warm up where they interview one another and introduce one another to the class. Then, students will pair up to create an invitation to an event and share their event with other students.

In this activity, students will practice planning a date. Students will also familiarize themselves with how they participate in certain holidays and events.  

In this activity students will look through a series of brochures for tour trips to different cities in China. As a group, they will chose which cities they would like to go to which tours, and decide what modes of transportation they will take. They will then create a travel itinerary for their entire group.

In this activity students will help reinforce their knowledge and understanding of terminology for weather in Chinese by playing a weather charades game. Students will then prepare a weekend weather report for a Chinese city of their choice and use it to present a forecast to their classmates where they also suggest activities to do based on the weather!

In this activity, students will have an opportunity to practice Spanish in preparation for their final. They will be using scenario cards to ask and answer certain questions that pertain to what they have learned over the course of the semester

This lab will introduce ASL students to having conversations with others. Students will learn how to properly ask and answer questions, as well as how to feel more comfortable in a conversational atmosphere. Students will also learn how to describe each other's responses.

This lab will introduce ASL students to name signs and how to use WHQ questions. Students will learn from a video and from conversing with others. Students will also learn how to ask a variety of different questions.

In this activity, students will use vocabulary describe what they eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Students will also be able to identify whether or not the meal is nutritious and healthy. Students will learn more about how to describe food and health. Students will also learn more about reading and understanding nutrition fact.

In this activity, students will play a bingo game in order to help practice recognizing radicals used in Chinese characters. Students will be shown a radical, and will then search for a vocabulary word that contains that radical. Students will also practice tones and pronunciation by reading out their winning vocabulary at the end of each round of bingo.

This is a template teachers can use to help guide them on how to remix digital humanities and/or authentic materials with the Pathways Project activities. Digital Humanities sites take collections of video, text, audio or other artifacts and transform them into something that is widely accessible online. While some sites are just virtual collections of content, the best sites showcase this information in new and interesting ways.
