This database of lessons is provided to support agriculture education in California classrooms. Over the last century, children have become further removed from the land that feeds and clothes us. And yet, Agriculture is the very basis of civilization—the food we eat, the clothing we wear, the material of our homes and many of our traditions and values…all coming from agriculture and collectively setting the pace for a nation's standard of living. The California Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom works with K–12 teachers, and students to enhance education using agricultural examples.

The research to be carried out can be done prior to the commencement of the Slideshow creation process, with the class teacher, or as part of the computer class, in which the Slideshow is created.

Students create a spreadsheet to quantify, analyze and determine the experiences and views towards technology of the Computer Commuter users.

Students create the layout of the spreadsheet that best suits the data in the survey. Questions are in different formats: multiple choice and short answer. The student must determine how to set up the spreadsheet to make the data easy and efficiently understandable.

I know a LOT about Dyslexia-both in a personal level and a professional level. It goes UNDIAGNOSED in thousands of people across all ages. Within Corrections, the percentage of students we serve with Dyslexia is incredibly high. Recent Federal legislation has opened the door to reforms- but this emphasis hasn't taken on importance yet in the state that I reside in.
I am a Microsoft Geek- that is the biggest resource that has been available for me to use in adult ed. I have a PowerPoint that explains some basic facts about Dyslexia. Plus a self-made Dyslexia Screener that I put together by combing through several online resources.
The out of pocket cost for the ed psych testing my child needed to diagnose dyslexia & dyscalculia was close to $2,000. Our students most likely didn't ever have the money to pay for that, nor will they. Please do what you can to research on your own! You can find ways to help. If you need suggestions, comb through more of my resources.

I have several LEP students right now that don't quite have extra time to come down to study in person in the school. I worked up some neat templates to create simple mini-books that highlight common things here in America. Workers, Health Issues, Transportation, etc...

This resource is for just that. Take one or two of the mini-books and use them in your classes.
They are EASY to modify using Microsoft Word. They are EASY to print if you follow the directions I set on the cover page.
I plan to issue one book at a time to my students, when they can read it well I will give them a different book.

This is an extension activity that can be used with an online reading passage. The reading passage gives basic information on elements, compounds, and mixtures.

This lesson concentrates on how to format an existing Microsoft Word document.
The focus is on meeting the Northstar Digital Literacy skills standards for the formatting of a document (font, font size, line spacing, creating lists, review).
The functions required in Microsoft Word are covered and additional functions, such as Save As, Save can also be shown.

Lesson to introduce Drive and Google Docs to advanced level adult ESL students. Students create their own bio using a template. They will center and left justify, explore different fonts, sizes and colors, use bold and italicize, and insert an image to produce a bio with one-paragraph text.

This lesson presents guided practice for google slides, along with internet research practice, jobs awareness, and speaking practice.

This Open Education Resource (OER) book represents the beginnings of a larger work (to be appended and strengthened through cooperative efforts of instructors active within the Open Education community) to provide adult basic educators with resources to meet the needs of their students. It may be used in its entirety or individual lessons may be chosen, remixed, modified, and/or recompiled. Some of the lessons have an Instructor section that directly links the lessons with the mathematical standards for content and practice found in the College and Career Readiness Standards for Adults. Other lessons have those standards deeply embedded, if not specifically and individually stated.

Both Lori Lundine and Donna Parrish are long-time instructors in the Adult Basic Education Department of Rogue Community College and have taught many years in public secondary schools. They have worked extensively on the Oregon Adult College and Career Readiness Standards and currently serve as math consultants for Oregon’s Higher Education Coordinating Commission.

Lesson designed for use in a one-room schoolhouse ABE/GED program, where volunteer tutors and instructors work with students one-to-one.

Learners will observe and discuss two similar interview scenarios. Using information from classroom discussion and input from a professional recruiter, learners will create their own unique response to the difficult prompt, Tell me about yourself.
