Overview:This lesson includes instructions, a video, a short story, PowerPoint, and an image. The students will practice with the teacher using the PowerPoint to go over the analog clock, minute hand, hour hand, and practice telling time. After completing the PowerPoint, the students will practice with a small analog clock.

The purpose of this task is for students to compare two options for a prize where the value of one is given $2 at a time, giving them an opportunity to "work with equal groups of objects to gain foundations for multiplication." This context also provides students with an introduction to the concept of delayed gratification, or resisting an immediate reward and waiting for a later reward, while working with money.

Bats are a common theme at Halloween. Use these resources to capitalize on student interest in bats and develop student understanding of common mathematical patterns.

The intent of clarifying statements is to provide additional guidance for educators to communicate the intent of the standard to support the future development of curricular resources and assessments aligned to the 2021 math standards.  Clarifying statements can be in the form of succinct sentences or paragraphs that attend to one of four types of clarifications: (1) Student Experiences; (2) Examples; (3) Boundaries; and (4) Connection to Math Practices.

This lesson includes a video which is an introductory video to telling time on a digital clock to 5 minutes. It goes over these vocabulary terms: short hand and long hand, the minute hand and hour hand, half past, o'clock, quarter after, and skip count.There are three worksheets each a little harder than the last. The video includes a song which will help students remember how to tell time.
