The lab will start off with some conversation starters having to do with numbers, each prompt has a quantitative aspect involved. During the main activity lab students will get to learn each other's experiences in other countries, focusing on country similarities.

This OER: Fairy Tales, Myths and Legends IPA Choice board was created by Stephanie Werner and as part of the 2024 World Language OER Summer work and training. Educators worked with Chrystal Liu, Nick Ziegler and Dorann Avey to create OER Learning Plans and materials. The attached IPA Choice Board is designed for 7-12 World Language Teachers of Low to Mid level Intermediate second language learners.

In this activity, students will practice giving directions and observing public plazas from French speaking countries.

In this activity students will practice their listening comprehension skills by listening to popular French music. They will also practice sharing their opinions regarding music and describing the general message of a song.

3 minute videos. Illustrations telling a story, with captions describing the action, written in French, with French voice over narration. For instruction in beginning French Language learning classes.

First, students will view a slide with works from German artists.  They are going to describe the art with old and new adjectives.  There is a clue about art in the warm-up word slide, Deutsche Adjektive. (it is written in the colors of the rainbow and then the three primary colors). Then students put these new and old adjectives to use as they digitally search museums in Berlin, hunting for art that depicts certain adjectives.  Finally, in the end students share about other types of German art they enjoy - music, architecture, design, etc.

Students will practice planning a trip to a German city. They will need to follow a budget when planning their activities.

In this activity, students will talk about their everyday life and discuss the differences between life in Germany and in their own culture.

This Integrated Performance Assessment (IPA) is designed to assess students at an intermediate proficiency level. It includes tasks to assess students in the three modes of communication: interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational. It is based on the 2019 Nebraska World Language Standards to support curriculum development or improvement to ensure instructional material quality. It is a rubric for curriculum developers and teachers to evaluate the quality of materials for instructional purposes.

In this activity, students will discuss Spain's New Year's 12 grape tradition, going on dates in their own city, and their own holiday traditions. This activity could be modified from focusing primarily on the L1 culture to the L2 culture in order to integrate more culture into the activity. This activity is more conversation-based and less culture-based, though it does discuss some Spanish traditions.

The SpinTX video archive provides a convenient web interface to search hundreds of short video clips from the Spanish in Texas Corpus. The collection includes hundreds of video clips culled from interviews of native and heritage speakers of Spanish living in Texas. Each video is accompanied by synchronized closed captions and a transcript that has been annotated with thematic, grammatical, functional and metalinguistic information. All materials available on the site can be freely used, copied, and distributed under a Creative Commons license.

To help World Language Educators accomplish this, the Nebraska Department of Education invited experienced world language teachers across the state to create student-friendly assessments in the form of can-do statements in the summer of 2022. This document is a student-friendly self-assessment activity for Intermediate Mid world language learners created based on the 2019 Nebraska World Language Standards. The language use described in all can-do statements is meant for the target language, except for the second for standard 3.1 and the first for standard 4.2. It is recommended that word language teachers engage students with this document three times in an academic year: pre-course, mid-course, and post-course. Engaging students with this self-assessment activity will help students see growth over time and hopefully attribute growth to effective learning practices. This is a lesson that makes the students use three different resources for showing where they want to travel to a Spanish speaking land.  It also gives a rubric for grading this assignment.  They are to refer to a video, a website about the location and a website showing the demographic information of that location.  They also have to write their report in Spanish and all their resources have to be in Spanish as well.
