In this activity, students will converse with their classmates about what they did this summer.
This assessment is a speaking exercise where students will introduce themselves to other students. Students will also ask questions for other students to respond to, and respond to other students' introductions about themselves. This assessment is appropriate for Novice Low students. (Rubric for grading is also included).
Students will have a “Meet and Greet” party where they will pretend to be the person on their card, such as Heidi Klum. They will introduce themselves and greet other people, taking into account the times of the day and their feelings review the different greetings.
Students will go learn more about how conversation activities will be facilitated and introduce themselves to one another.

I wanted students to have authentic examples of these greetings before they practice them so I added some videos of Germans greeting each other in various forms. I also wanted to add German music playing in the background just to give students a feeling of being in Germany.

Students will receive business cards listing an address, profession and phone number. Based on the cards, students will practice asking each other questions to determine each other's information.
Students must try to formulate questions related to the topics on the bingo card. This is to help the students get to know each other in their target language.
Students will have a chance to get acquainted with the other students in their lab group. Additionally, they will review vocabulary they learned in previous semesters. Students will discuss their likes and dislikes, explaining their preferences. This is a great lab to start the year off.
In this activity, students will have the opportunity to practice greetings and introductions by practicing vocabulary appropriate for certain times of the day and practicing formal/informal greetings.

In this activity students will play a game to review greeting, nationalities and time phrases. Throughout the quiz, there will be some supplementary discussion questions to help further reinforce concepts covered in class.

Students will review basic introductory phrases. The students will then take turns introducing themselves to their classmates, discussing their names, years in school, majors, and nationalities. They will review all of the information they learned with a challenge round at the end.
This lab will introduce ASL 101 students to our lab expectations and guidelines. It will also allow them to introduce themselves and play a short game involving the alphabet. At the end, there will also be a short presentation on some ASL culture.
