Students will gain insight into careers related to serving others and helping during times of struggle. There are six types of helpers that students will learn about in this lesson: professional helpers, paraprofessional helpers, helping as a part of their work, volunteer helpers, peer helpers, and informal helpers

Using communication skills, students will interview teachers within the buildings and use that information to create inferences using a reflection-based prompt.

This lesson serves as an introduction to the grieving process after someone experiences a loss. Students will understand what grief is, and what kinds of experiences bring about the feelings associated with a loss. Students will also learn about different theories of how people go through the grieving process.

This lesson will provide background knowledge for the process of diagnosing psychological disorders. Students will review the definition of stigma, and learn about abnormal behavior. 

Students will start their Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) year with activities that apply important career readiness skills, including teamwork, communication, leadership, creativity, and utilization of technology.  They will also begin to understand the connection between what they are learning in the classroom and their future career path through one (or more) CTSOs.

In this lesson, students will learn what mental distortions are, who the key researchers are, and how to overcome these negative thought patterns. Students will take part in discussion, a jigsaw activity, and will practice a technique used to test our thinking. 

In this lesson, students will learn about a key characteristic of a mental health profession, lifelong learning. They will analyze Code of Ethics, NE licensure requirements for continuing education, and will learn about the importance of professional organizations for mental health professionals. 

In this lesson, students will learn about the developmental milestones of infants from birth to age 2.  They will identify 20 milestones and create a poster (paper or digital).

Overview:  This lesson includes a slide presentation to instruct about the 8 Multiple Intelligences (by Howard Gardner).  The students can take notes on the Doodle Notes handout.  Once the students are familiar with the multiple intelligences, you can help them apply the intelligences to preschool learning activities.  Students can work alone or in a group of two to plan 8 preschool activities that match the multiple intelligences.  The project also has the students plan the eight activities around a theme.  This helps students to think about multiple intelligences and developmentally appropriate activities for preschool age children.

In this lesson students will learn about the recommendations for nutrition during pregnancy.  There are a few videos linked for the students to watch.  The main activity is based on recommendations from the myplate.gov website.  As a closing activity, students plan a one-day menu for a pregnant woman. 

Overview:  In this lesson, students will learn the dietary needs of preschool aged children.  In the first activity, students use the website MyPlate.org to fill in the database chart.  In the second activity, the students evaulate a sample diet to see if it meets the MyPlate requirements.  Lastly, the students plan some nutritious snacks for a preschool aged child.

In this lesson, students learn about the three main parenting styles:  authoritarian, authoritative (democratic) and permissive.  The first part of the lesson involves the teacher explaining the three types using a slide presentation.  The second part of the lesson is a YouTube video with clips of various shows.  The students will watch and guess what parenting style is portrayed in the clip.  Next the students will work in small groups to decide how parents would react differently in situations based on their parenting style.

This is the first lesson in the PIESM Development Concepts, Physical Development. In this lesson, there is vocabulary, notes, and two activity stations that require observations. At the end, there is a reflective peice that requires use of student observation and analysis using developmental concepts learned. 

High School students will learn more about protein in the body and why it is essential. They will also analyze complete vs. incomplete proteins and making healthy protein choices.
