The simulations guide students through building marketing plans for diverse businesses so they receive practical application of theoretical concepts like online branding, traffic building, SEO, and online retailing. These simulations should be used in parallel with units on digital marketing tactics. The simulations are order of complexity, encouraging students to utilize different strategies throughout.

Students are briefed on Mars, NASA's goals at the planet and current analysis being completed for landing site selection. They complete a mock GIS analysis of a potential landing site by learning about their site and why it is scientifically important. Then they assess the engineering criteria to determine how safe it is and if the rover can navigate safely and efficiently. Finally, they use imagery to determine what the rover might find once on the ground and plan out a nominal traverse for the rover, including key locations for detailed study. Results of their work are presented to their peers and students try to convince the others that their landing site is the best choice.

Students write a short essay that compares the Permo-Triassic (Permo is short for Permian) mass extinction with the Cretaceous-Tertiary (Tertiary is the beginning of the Cenozoic) mass extinction. The use online resources and their textbooks as source material for their essay.

Students must include information about the magnitude of the extinction events. Additionally students describe the groups of organisms that were impacted by the event.

Students discuss the cause(s) of each the extinction event and compare the different causes. They explain how the cause impacted the different groups of organisms or why those particular groups were impacted.

The discussion must include some of the organisms that never recovered from the extinction.

These videos are created for my Mastercam class at Linn Benton Community College. They are used over three terms in a “flipped classroom” format. Students follow along with the tutorials at home and then complete a similar part during the lab, which utilizes the skills and knowledge taught in the tutorials. Students will study a particular town/city of their choosing. They will create two continuous growth curves from population data roughly 80 to 100 years apart. Students will describe the location they have chosen and focus on issues that affect growth. Students will calculate population projections based on the equations created. They will also graph the data to use in their analysis of the population growth.

This is an assignment given during Spring 2022 in a community college elementary statistics course. Students were asked to find their own data set (or given the option of selecting from several sets that were provided) and compute a correlation, construct a least squares regression line, and make a prediction using the data. Students are given the option of turning in the assignment as a short paper, slides presentation, or video. Students are also asked if they would be willing to share their assignment with the class and future classes to be used as examples.

The Open for Antiracism (OFAR) Program – co-led by CCCOER and College of the Canyons – emerged as a response to the growing awareness of structural racism in our educational systems and the realization that adoption of open educational resources (OER) and open pedagogy could be transformative at institutions seeking to improve. The program is designed to give participants a workshop experience where they can better understand anti-racist teaching and how the use of OER and open pedagogy can empower them to involve students in the co-creation of an anti-racist classroom. The capstone project involves developing an action plan for incorporating OER and open pedagogy into a course being taught in the spring semester. OFAR participants are invited to remix this template to design and share their projects and plans for moving this work forward. 

This is a rigorous, open, and equitable Calculus I class. It follows the OpenStax Calculus I book and uses the MyOpenMath course created by Larry Green and the ZTC grant as homework and extra resources. As well as lecture notes and worksheets created in Microsoft Word.

The structure of the course is that it follows a flipped class model, where students are required to watch lecture video created off of the lecture notes. Then students work on sectional exercises embedded in Canvas from MyOpenMath and work by themselves on the hard worksheet before the last day of the class during the week. On that day of class students will have the opportunity to work in groups on the worksheet problems.

They will be motivated to work on the problems in their groups because they will then teach the professor their random problem received as well as their group mates have points associated with their group mates work. The way they do this is through a program called GoReact that is embedded in Canvas. The main thing about this program is that students can easily share a recorded video of them teaching the math to the professor and the professor in turn can give video feedback telling the student how much they rock or letting them know what went wrong. These Teach Me Video are the foundation of the course and are the only thing the professor grades for the week unless there is a test. They are fun for both the instructor and students and increase the teacher student relationship as well as the student to student relationship. It is also easy to bump the Teach Me Videos up to make students who didn't fully understand the problem by making them redo the video to get some points back.

This was my inquiry project for Algebra 1. It focus on Data Analysis and Statistics while asking the driving question, "when does the risk of going to school outweigh the cost of a snow day?"
