Biology 101 Quizlet study aids that utilize OER diagrams. Designed to increase understanding and automaticity of student recall of biological concepts covered in Biology 101, particularly in the laboratory portion of the course.

Students research a biology topic, present their discoveries to each other for peer review, create a short video explaining the topic, and decide how to share their video publicly.

With this assignment, students will have an opportunity to dive into one of the many aspects and concepts of biology in greater depth. They will have an opportunity to choose a topic they are interested in (list of possible topics provided, adaptable for others), and research the how/why/when of the topic. They will then present their findings first in a written format (a preliminary informative essay), to serve as a guide for their video production. After discussion and peer review, they will create short videos that explain the topic to the general public. Teaching this topic in a creative way will solidify their own knowledge. They will also become familiar with many aspects of video editing, and grapple with putting their creations into the world.

Students perform a literature review on a biology topic, choose 2-3 papers published in scientific journals to discuss in their assignment, provide a final opinion on the topic, and some voluntarily present on their selected topic.

This assignment is written as a final project for students in a biology class to create a video answering a question using scientific literature. It is scaffolded over the semester, with a brainstorming assignment, a submission of reference list, and the final video. 

This lab manual and workbook was created for Majors level Biology I and II, to be used in whole or in part in any college-level course. The manual contains both labs and worksheets to be used in classes, assigned as learning activities, or used as assessments. The manual has an instructor's guide for the lab components. Bioremediation is a useful biotechnology application that can help maintain and preserve our natural resources from harmful substances.  However, bioremediation can be complicated and present numerous challenges, as well.  Many times, we are unaware of environmental contamination present in our local areas.  Through this lesson, students will explore the basics of bioremediation and then participate in a local case study.

This semester, we will be implementing a group activity where we look at the histology for the leading causes of death while also exploring how these diseases disproportionately affect people of color in America. There are several components of this project that culminate in a video presentation that can be used to inform our Merritt and employer community about these diseases and how they negatively impact us. This project will be done in several steps or 7 Modules as outlined below.
