This Unit is a collection resources that cover a 4 week span. This unit was designed with EL students in mind. Each day has vocabulary that will allow students learn key phrases and attributes of each career. Each week a different categories of careers is highlighted through books, activites, and videos. Family Night: Engineering introduces children to cool careers within the field of engineering that range from building roller coasters to designing artificial heart pumps for children who need them. Students will discuss what they look for in a career and what their dream job is. They will also describe what people with different careers do at work and what kind of personalities do well in these jobs as well as consider job salaries. This lesson plan addresses the following NDE World Language Standard(s): NE WL Standards: 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 3.1. It is expected that this activity will take 50 minutes to complete.

A High school student guide to their Individual Graduation Plan: resources to being College and Career Ready

Students will talk about future careers and how to interview. They will discuss several interview questions and styles through different scenarios with a partner. Students will also decide how to appropriately answer questions or how to come to a resolution to these situations on their own or with a partner. Students will be able expand their answers using formal language in an interview style activity.

This resource was created by Kate Chrisman, in collaboration with Lynn Bowder, as part of ESU2's Mastering the Arts project. This project is a four year initiative focused on integrating arts into the core curriculum through teacher education and experiential learning.

This course introduces students to the basic business concepts that will help them understand how a business survives in today’s economy and the role that consumers play in the same economy. Students will learn how to balance a checkbook, save for the future, and use credit wisely. Students will also learn how to create a resume and how to participate in a job interview.

Students will be introduced to the concept of note-taking as a memory aid for consecutive interpretation. We will start with twelve symbols in common, and practice the consecutive mode by using recycled class vocabulary. Students will be encouraged to start developing their own symbols for note-taking.

Students will discuss their future career preferences. They will practice how to be persuasive with their speech to achieve something or to be convincing.
