This is an activity for students to speak about the topic of travelling. It has been created for the level C1 and it is divided into different steps.1. WARM UPThe students answer some general questions about travelling.2. READING AND SPEAKING TASKSThe students read a text about "What kind of traveller are you?. There are some expresiions in bold that they need to match to their definitions, so a QR code is provided for them to acces an online activity to do so. After that, the students will describe themselves when it come to travelling.3. TOURIST DESTINATIONS.The students will be provided with some expressions to express opinion about whether or not they would like to visit a place. Then they will be shown different tourist destinations so that they can give their opinion about them.4. TRAVEL MISHAPSThe students will complete a questionnaire about travel mishaps and then, they will share the information in groups.

In this activity, students will watch a series of short videos about traditions and celebrations surrounding Lunar New Year . After each video, students will answer and talk about a few discussion questions relating to the videos.

Rationale: This activity will provide an alternative to traditional activities on French families offered in a lot of textbooks, and will get students engage with an authentic material: an excerpt from a contemporary Francophone “bande dessinée”. While some students may already know traditional Francophone comics such as Tintin or Astérix, this activity is here to provide them with a more recent and more diverse example. Aya de Yopougon is centered on a young female character growing up in Yop City, a fictional city very similar to writer Marguerite Abouet’s own native city (Abidjan, Ivory Coast). The “reading” phase of this activity is designed to encourage collaborative reading.

This Remote Learning Plan was created by Christina Schroeder in collaboration with Nick Ziegler as part of the 2020 ESU-NDE Remote Learning Plan Project. Educators worked with coaches to create Remote Learning Plans as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.The attached Remote Learning Plan is designed for 9th-12th grade Spanish students. In this activity students will practice discussing and describing events in their daily lives. Students will build a daily schedule from an assortment of random events, and then describe their schedule to a group or partner. In this activity, students will be given a bundle of Chinese money and will use common Chinese phrases to try to purchase items from the instructor, who will be acting as a shop owner. Students will attempt to convince the shop owner to give them the most items for the best price.

The SpinTX video archive provides a convenient web interface to search hundreds of short video clips from the Spanish in Texas Corpus. The collection includes hundreds of video clips culled from interviews of native and heritage speakers of Spanish living in Texas. Each video is accompanied by synchronized closed captions and a transcript that has been annotated with thematic, grammatical, functional and metalinguistic information. All materials available on the site can be freely used, copied, and distributed under a Creative Commons license.

This interpretive listening and presentational writing task aligns with a novice-level unit about sports. This task is tiered by complexity of product (how students show what they know).
