This interactive visualization created by FRED (Free Energy Data), displays energy supply (by source) and demand (by use) for each state in the US from 1960 to 2010; forecasts through 2035 are available as well. FRED is an open platform to help state and local governments, energy planners and policy-makers, private industry, and others to effectively visualize, analyze, and compare energy-use data to make better energy decisions and form sustainable strategies.

Focusing on air, water, land and life, this video describes how these components are connected in the Earth system through the flow of energy, cycles of water and biogeochemistry. Methods of studying the Earth system, ranging from field observations to analysis of satellite images are discussed. This video is one of the 24-part instructional video series describing scientific protocols used by GLOBE (Global Learning and Observation to Benefit the Environment), a worldwide, hands-on, K-12 school-based science education program.
Active learning modules to help students understand the role of cover crop …
Active learning modules to help students understand the role of cover crop species selection and design of mixed species cover crop plantings on multiple ecosystem services. Our current goal is to integrate lessons-learned from 8 years of research and extension activities into undergraduate education modules that can be widely distributed. Students completing these modules would be able to describe why cover crops are used, how different species of cover crop affect an array of ecosystem functions, how mixtures can be used to increase the multifunctionality of cover cropping systems, and factors that control mixture growth across sites. If the modules are delivered in the following order then these concepts build sequentially.
