The ACTFL/ILR Oral Proficiency Interview by computer (OPIc) exam tests for speaking skills and is offered for various languages, Arabic being one of them. The exam can be administered to students of all proficiency levels who are in college and beyond. The length of the exam is 20-30 minutes and it is rated by ACTFL Certified ILR OPIc Raters. The results reported are individual scores of proficiency from 0 to 2.

This resource gives detailed proficiency guidelines for second language learners in the four major categories of speaking, writing, listening, and reading. It separates proficiency into five major levels: distinguished, superior, advanced, intermediate, and novice. Advanced, intermediate, and novice are further divided into high, mid, and low sublevels. The guidelines give detailed descriptions of language use regarding each level, applicable to all languages.

The exam can be administered to students at an ACTFL Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Superior proficiency level who are in the 10-12th grade, college and to adults. The length of the exam is 14-40 minutes and it is rated by ACTFL Certified ILR OPIc Raters. The results reported are 1 of 10 possible proficiency levels from the ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines.

The Arabic Proficiency Test measures reading and listening skills. The exam can be administered to high school and college students as well as to professionals. The length of the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes and its format is selected response/multiple choice. Ultimately, the reported result is based on ACTFL scores of novice, intermediate, advanced, and auperior proficiency levels.

Basic Urdu is a theme-based, interactive open-source online textbook for the true novice learners of the Urdu language. The book uses mixed pedagogical approaches to language teaching to match diverse teaching and learning styles. It aims to help learners achieve intermediate low to mid-proficiency levels set by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

Chapeau! is a first-year college text. Although it may appear, at first glance, to move very fast and introduce a large amount of material early, the vocabulary and grammatical structures that we expect students to control actively by the end of the year are limited in accord with our notion of a reasonable application of the ACTFL proficiency guidelines. As a result, while some instructors may be surprised at such things as the absence of the possessive pronoun, no insistence on the use of optional subjunctives, and no active treatment of the relative dont, others may be disturbed by what we still include in a first-year text. What we do expect students to acquire (which is quantitatively less than what we present in the text for them to know about), we believe they will acquire well, providing a sound basis for further study (formal or informal) and permitting us to say to them, both during and at the end of the course, "Chapeau!"

Course DesignThis communicative Spanish 1 course is designed for middle and high school students as a year-long course with 4 units. Each unit is meant to last about 1 quarter or 8-10 weeks. Units are thematic and aligned to AP World Languages themes. Units were designed using a backwards planning model (Understanding by Design, McTighe & Wiggins, 2005), first considering unit goals and essential questions, then performance assessments, then core learning experiences and resources. All or most World Language Standards are braided throughout each unit. Units are vertically designed and build on one another. They are meant to be taught in the order presented. Lake Washington School District teachers collaborated closely with Laura Terrill, French teacher and curriculum design expert.  These units and templates are built off the principles and examples in the Keys to Planning for Learning: Effective Curriculum, Unit, and Lesson Design, by Clementi & Terrill (2017). We highly recommend referring to the Keys to Planning for Learning book, available through ACTFL, for more learning and deeper understanding of the intent and pedagogical underpinnings of this curriculum. Pedagogy and Teaching MethodsThe power of these units lie in their design around ACTFL's Guiding Principles. All units are designed to be taught 90%+ of the time in the Target Language (TL) using comprehensible input strategies. Core Resource Activity Guides outline suggested methods and activities for making content comprehensible in the TL. Let’s Chat! Arabic features a collection of over 28 interpersonal speaking activities for novice and intermediate learners. Touching on a range of thematic topics such as greetings, daily routines, health, eating out, holidays and so much more, Arabic teachers are sure to find an activity to use in their courses. These activities may be used as is or can easily be revised and remixed to fit the unique needs of individual classrooms.

The American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages has published National Standards for Foreign Language Education. This project was funded by the U.S. Department of Education and the National Endowment for the Humanities. Arabic language teaching and learning resources in Al Masdar may be tagged as aligned with these standards.

In this innovative project, Southwestern College students teamed up with one another and with faculty to create and publish openly-licensed content highlighting their understanding of academic material and providing models of syllabi, class assignment directions and class assignments for future students.

The Oral Proficiency Interview exam tests for speaking skills and is offered for various languages, including Arabic. The exam can be administered to students and professionals of all proficiency levels, starting from grade 11 in high school. The length of the exam, conducted by phone or Skype, is 20-30 minutes. Results fall on a scale of proficiency ranging from 0 to 5+. The exam resembles a conversation but goes through a specific set of stages: a warm-up stage to check the interviewee's level, a stage to probe for higher levels, and wind-down phase.

Research shows that engaging students in self-assessment positively impacts language learning, motivation, and learner autonomy. To help World Language Educators accomplish this, the Nebraska Department of Education invited experienced world language teachers across the state to create student-friendly assessments in the form of can-do statements in the summer of 2022. This document is a student-friendly self-assessment activity for Intermediate Mid world language learners created based on the 2019 Nebraska World Language Standards. The language use described in all can-do statements is meant for the target language, except for the second for standard 3.1 and the first for standard 4.2. It is recommended that word language teachers engage students with this document three times in an academic year: pre-course, mid-course, and post-course. Engaging students with this self-assessment activity will help students see growth over time and hopefully attribute growth to effective learning practices. The exam can be administered to students at the ACTFL Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Superior proficiency levels who are in grades K-12 schools, college, or to those who are adults. The length of the exam is 90 minutes and it is available on-demand via the internet or in booklet form. It is rated by ACTFL Certified WPT Raters.
