Tips and Tricks: Have extra activities (such as coloring pages or worksheets) available for
children who finish at a faster pace, and watch for students who are becoming distracted.

Students will collect, organize, and compare data about the number of girls and the number of boys in their classroom who play sports, take lessons, and participate in clubs. Then students will compare these classroom data with U.S. Census Bureau data for girls and boys across the United States. Teachers may choose to adapt this activity for different data if other categories are more applicable to their students.

In this activity the students are going to talk about their hobbies and what they like to do in their free time. They will have an opportunity to talk to other students in a "speed dating" type which will give each student the opportunity to meet someone new and also use their language tools to converse.
