In this lesson, students will apply the concept of loops they learned in order to animate their sprites.

I wanted to make a realistic animatronic heart, and as I was developing the 3D printed mechanism I used a sock to try and get a vague idea of how the silicone skin would move once the design was finished. Since the silicone casting turned out to be quite challenging and very expensive, the sock test gave me the idea to instead use a slightly elastic fabric to make a plush heart design, which could be fitted over the 3D printed mechanism.

This project is very simple on the 3D printing/assembly/electronics side, but I'd recommend you have a little sewing experience because, as a sewing amateur, I'm not 100% confident in my patterns. A sewing machine is not necessarily required and a lot of the sewing is by hand anyway, but it would certainly be useful!

This activity contains three case studies which allow students to evaluate situations that are considered when budgeting. The students will create budgets for the individuals in the cases as part of this assignment.

This activity uses mini cases to help develop some problem- solving skills in relation to budgeting. Situational analysis allows students to role play and help the person in the case figure out how to budget and deal with their financial decisions. Cases allow for students to role play in real life scenarios that they may experience in their future.

This is a full project that can be used in to meet standards around budgeting and money management. This usually takes the students about 5 hours to complete and it is very comprehensive to cover all future spending. The assignment requires the students to "screenshot" proof of items they found for their budget (and support each item with evidence). Students really enjoy this project (and adults have used it too for budgeting in real life!). Students may chose to have $0 spending on some items (pets, legal, etc.), but they should explain their reasoning for entering a zero. As well, students should enter savings into their budget (at least 10% of earnings).

This module is adapted from the original Department of Health module, which you can find here.We were inspired by the original and heartened at the opportunity to integrate across content areas.Our iteration includes direct connections with secondary ELA and showcases content integration across science and social studies with a strong social justice component. ​Furthermore, our adaptation highlights Washington state policy that addresses wildfire awareness, prevention, and preventive measures.Please note the work of the Department of Health Epidemiologists in using data science to understand medical trends and the opportunity to plan health interventions. This is a strong career connection for our students.
