The impact of ICT for teaching and learning process has become pertinent as it facilitates teaching and learning process, create conducive learning environment, and help learners develop creative thinking and self confidence. This paper focuses on the use of ICT in schools by students and teachers to support the processes of learning and teaching. It describes the ways in which teachers could and/or should facilitate student use of computer systems and how they can progress. The use of information and communication technology in schools is taken very seriously by governments and educational systems around the world as it provides access to a variety of information sources, forms and types; help in the preparation of reports and the organization of events; helps to put down the barriers between information held on several systems, thus creating a borderless communication and information environment by allowing users to access different database, thus having access to millions of information at their finger tips. This paper thus suggests that effective introduction of ICT in the teaching and learning process is an indispensable means of improving it

- Freeman Dyson

What do we know about successful pedagogical strategies utilizing ICTs for teaching and learning? What is known about effective teacher professional development? What do we know about the impact of ICTs on teacher performance? What do we know about the impact of ICTs on teacher motivation?

Teachers remain central to the learning process
A shift in the role of a teacher utilizing ICTs to that of a facilitator does not obviate the need for teachers to serve as leaders in the classroom; traditional teacher leadership skills and practices are still important (especially those related to lesson planning, preparation, and follow-up).

Lesson planning is crucial when using ICTs
Teacher lesson planning is vital when using ICTs; where little planning has occurred, research shows that student work is often unfocused and can result in lower attainment.

Other nursing theories, such as those from Callista Roy, emphasize the client system model. This view views the individual as a set of interrelated systems that strive to maintain balance in the face of various stimuli. These factors can include physiological, psychological, social, developmental and spiritual needs. These systems can also include stress levels, which are considered a risk factor for disease.

Inclusive education means that all the students in a school, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses in any area, become part of the school community. They are included in the feeling of belonging among other students, teachers and also support staff. Incorporating Corpora – Using corpora to teach German to English-speaking learners

The concept of Data-Driven Learning, the use of corpora in instructed second language acquisition, can be traced to the late 1980s. Despite fifty years of use and a substantial body of literature showing their efficacy in the classroom, language corpora are far from a common pedagogical tool. In fact, teachers attempting to move from theory to praxis will find very few pedagogical manuals or user-friendly corpus tutorials, especially for languages other than English. Incorporating Corpora provides an online manual on the use of corpora to teach German to English-speaking learners. It includes a brief overview of research in Data-Driven Learning, a guide for using Das Digitale Wörterbuch der Deutschen Sprache, and a selection of corpus-based assignments piloted in KU German courses. The manual is be the basis for a series of K-16 teacher workshops during which teachers will explore the use of language corpora in language teaching and will be invited to submit their own activities for inclusion in the project.

Incorporating Information Literacy into Climate Change Teaching
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted

This module includes 10 topics related to finding, evaluating, and presenting scientific information related to climate change or other interdisciplinary topics.

The ultimate goal is for students to prepare a paper and present it to their colleagues as though they were giving it at typical professional meeting such as American Geophysical Union, Geological Society of America, or American Quaternary Association. However, the technical level of the talk should be at a level that the class will understand and enjoy.

The topic should demonstrate scientific method rather than being merely descriptive or primarily applied science/technology. Students should use current literature. The presentation will be more interesting if the subject is somewhat controversial. The final product should demonstrate that the student understands and has gained the skills presented in all 10 topics.
