APPLICATIONS OF CONTROL CHARTS FOR QUALITY IMPROVEMENT IN HEALTH CARE
Conditional Remix & Share Permitted
CC BY-NC-SA
Rating
0.0 stars

This textbook introduces students to the application methods of control charts to improve quality in health care. The textbook is written to be accessible to any student in the areas of health information management, health care informatics, and health care industrial engineering. Having a basic background in statistics would be beneficial, but such training is not a prerequisite to understanding how to apply the techniques discussed here.  Several How-To sections are included to demonstrate the implementation of the given control charts using software such as Minitab and Excel.  Additionally, samples of a Python code are included and can directly be accessed in a Jupyter Notebook at https://github.com/JeromeNN/Applications-Control-Charts-Quality-Improvement-Health-Care

The first published account of the theorizing that was involved in the development of John M. Keller’s ARCS model is contained in a 1979 publication entitled Motivation and Instructional Design: A Theoretical Perspective. At that early stage, Keller explains his working definition, “motivation is generally defined as that which accounts for the arousal, direction, and sustenance of behavior” (Keller, 1979, p. 29). The emergence of Keller’s model was heavily influenced by a research into a variety of underlying motivational constructs. The theoretical alignment of the original ARCS model is covered more in-depth in the theoretical alignment section. The ARCS model has an official website. This textbook explores the ARCS model.

ARF6 pathway enhances PD-L1 expression and fibrosis

This resource is a video abstract of a research paper created by Research Square on behalf of its authors. It provides a synopsis that's easy to understand, and can be used to introduce the topics it covers to students, researchers, and the general public. The video's transcript is also provided in full, with a portion provided below for preview:

"Immune checkpoints are an effective way that cancers evade the immune system, but they're not the only one. In the case of pancreatic ductal carcinoma, or PDAC, tumor fibrosis also plays an important role. To understand how fibrosis might translate to poor outcomes among patients with PDAC, researchers examined the ARF6-AMAP1 molecular pathway, which research suggests is activated during fibrosis. Findings revealed that AMAP1 correlated with elevated expression of PD-L1, a molecule that tumor cells present on their surface to elude attack by the immune system. AMAP1 was also linked to elevated fibrosis. Consistently, silencing AMAP1 in a mouse model of human PDAC reduced PD-L1 and fibrosis in their tumors. Suppressing the ARF6-AMAP1, therefore, could be one way to ensure that PDAC tumors can’t hide from immune defenses, offering the prospect of more effective immunotherapies for patients with pancreatic ductal carcinoma..."

The rest of the transcript, along with a link to the research itself, is available on the resource itself.

Assessment in learning refers to the systematic process of gathering evidence and evaluating a learner's knowledge, skills, and abilities to determine their progress and level of achievement. It plays a crucial role in education and is used to measure learning outcomes, identify areas of strength and weakness, provide feedback, and inform instructional decisions.            Overall, assessment in learning is a dynamic process that supports student growth, informs instruction, and ensures that educational goals are met. By employing a variety of assessment methods and providing valuable feedback, educators can foster a positive learning environment and promote continuous improvement among learners.

ASTR 1020 - Lab 10: The Search for Exoplanets

Most exoplanets are found through indirect methods: measuring the dimming of a star that happens to have a planet pass in front of it, called the transit method, or monitoring the spectrum of a star for the tell-tale signs of a planet pulling on its star and causing its light to subtly Doppler shift. Space telescopes have found thousands of planets by observing “transits,” the slight dimming of light from a star when its tiny planet passes between it and our telescopes. Other detection methods include gravitational lensing, the so-called “wobble method.”---------------------------------------Distant Nature: Astronomy Exercises 2016 by Stephen Tuttle under license "Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial Share Alike".
