This assignment encourages students to apply for a public library card and also explore the electronic resources available at their local public library.  It can be used in a virtual learning environment or to supplement an in-person library research assignment.

This resource contains six documents related to the Pueblo people in Mesa Verde including information about drought, agricultural production, population density and migration. The assignment asks students to use the artifacts provided to analyze what happened to the Pueblo people at the end of the Pueblo III period in 1270 C.E. The resource contains a template for answering questions about each resource and directions for writing an argumentative essay about the Pueblo people using the documents as evidence.  

Students create equations that have solutions to ordered pairs of an image on a graph. First students create an image on a graph and identify the ordered pairs for all the points of the image. Next, students create equations so that the x and y values of the ordered pairs are solutions to the equations.

Context: The course focuses on pronunciation reading informational text, which determines the meaning of words and phrases as they are used in the text for learners, the importance of listen and speaking, these are good communication skills to learn the English language.

Relevance: This lesson will help prepare learners to effectively communicate and through education improve their lives. Knowing English increases your chances of getting a good job, learners will be able to get their certificates for a GED, or citizenship. The coverage in this lesson will focus on the English vocabulary, which is an important aspect in communication without sufficient vocabulary learners cannot understand others or express their own ideas.

This is a cross curricular art project for 8th grade math students. Students are first introduced to what the Wheel of Theodorus is, ponder where they see it in the world around them and then instructed on how to create their own. When they have finished constructing their Wheel of Theodorus they are asked to creatively and colorfully turn it "into" something. Examples are given. After they Wheel of Theodorus is complete, students are then asked to measure all the sides lengths of the triangles in the wheel. They should quickly see that they can use the Pythagorean Theorem to do this and that it follows a predictable pattern. No ruler will be required for this part of the project!
