This lab introduces students to expectations for the rest of the semester. It also allows them to introduce themselves and get to know the rest of their group members.
Students will get to know you and each other by practicing prior skills that they have learned. They will then have the opportunity to challenge their knowledge and try to communicate and guess different names and/or situations.
Students will practice using the appropriate greeting based on the time of the day and who they are speaking to. Students will also practice uses of formal and informal greetings.
In this activity, students will practice answering questions on a variety of topics. Students will also practice asking questions. They will review name signs, hand shape, and cardinal numbers.
Students will have a "Meet and Greet Party." They will pretend to be a celebrity and introduce and greet another person. This will help them practice introducing themselves, greeting someone, and answering how they feel and they will also learn greetings for different times of the day.

In this activity, students will practice talking about the prices of various objects that can be found at various stores. Students will also talk about the location of these items.
Description:The students will have a selection of bingo rounds to practice katakana with. Start with bingo 1 to practice the basic characters and prepare the students for a more difficult game. Then go to bingo 2 which will be a more exciting game where students will practice full katakana words. In this lab, students will learn the rules of conversation labs at Boise State’s World Languages Resource Center (WLRC). They will then play an icebreaker game to introduce themselves to the rest of the lab. This game will cover things like their name and age, what they did over winter break, and what they often do on certain days. In this lab, students will use a word bank on the whiteboard to describe people, places, and things in the presentation slides. Students will first be asked to provide adjectives for color, positive adjectives, and negative adjectives. In this lab, students will practice connecting sentences with te-form by describing a handful of pictures. Pairs of students will then conduct a mock tour, with one student acting as a tour guide and the other acting like a famous historical figure. Once the tour guide has learned enough about the “famous person,” the students will then schedule a tour together, keeping in mind the information gathered from the interview.
