CultureTalk - Arab World features native speakers from across the Arabic-speaking world giving filmed interviews, in Arabic and sometimes English, on selected topics. Text-based translations and transcriptions are often provided as downloadable documents for most Arabic videos. The videos engage a number of region/country-specific topics, including cultural traditions, religion, politics, and sports.

This course provides a substantive overview of U.S. politics and an introduction to the discipline of political science. It surveys the institutional foundations of U.S. politics as well as the activities of political elites, organizations, and ordinary citizens. It explores the application of general political science concepts and analytic frameworks to specific episodes and phenomena in U.S. politics.

In this activity, students will be discussing parties. First, they will use pre-made party invitations to try to convince fellow students to attend their party, and then students will pair up to discover their partner’s ideal party.

Students will talk about fun events and things to do in Spanish speaking countries. They will practice how to reject or accept an invitation, emphasizing a polite way to explain why you can or can't go. They will also decide on ways to discuss what they did at an event or activity with friends.

In this activity, students will review by talking about food, health, and parties. Students will interview each other in Spanish about foods, health, culture, and parties. Students will learn how to ask and answer questions entirely in Spanish.

In this activity, students will discuss Spain's New Year's 12 grape tradition, going on dates in their own city, and their own holiday traditions. This activity could be modified from focusing primarily on the L1 culture to the L2 culture in order to integrate more culture into the activity. This activity is more conversation-based and less culture-based, though it does discuss some Spanish traditions.
