Customer centricity is about organizational transformation making the customer the focus for business decisions, processes, product development, services, and procedures. Some companies purport to be customer centric but they fall short in connecting this concept throughout all functional areas of the business. While it is important to offer superb customer service, being customer centric is far more than that. It's about mapping the customer journey to discover customer needs and wants, what's working and what is not, then taking action to improve the customer experience. Customer loyalty is built through providing exceptional customer experiences. This in turn increases revenues through positive company image, referrals, and increased customer lifetime value. Most organizations today realize that they must focus on the customer to remain competitive.

The Decolonial Struggle is a course that challenges students to critically examine the ways in which colonialism and decolonization has shaped the social, political, historical and economic landscapes of settler states. The first part of this course focuses on the relational dynamics between the colonizer and the colonized, elucidating how this relationship has impacted historic and contemporary understandings of indigeneity and sovereignty. The second part of the course addresses the various ways that both Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples work towards decolonization through processes of ‘unlearning’ and re-presencing.

Hybrid co-curricular honour workshop series in Indigenous languages revitalization (undergraduate students) In this course, students will be introduced to considerations, approaches, research and best practices for Indigenous language revitalization and programming. This course will look at the work done in the three local communities as well as within Ontario, Canada and globally. The four workshops have been designed to offer practical applications to Indigenous language revitalization. Acknowledging the work and models used by the three local communities (Oneida of the Thames First Nation, Chippewas of the Thames First Nation and Munsee-Delaware Nation).

Eco-Social Work in Climates of Change examines the role of social work in disconnecting Indigenous people from their lands and cultural ways of connecting to land. As with other disciplines like economics, social work is mired in a modern worldview that is disconnected from Earthly relations; a disconnection that has fueled both the profession’s colonial growth and contemporary global environmental issues. We are in a time of changes when social work needs to re-learn the value(s) of rooting environmental justice and healing practices in the broader sociality of Earth relations, and that is the focus of this course.

This interactive exhibition features the preliminary research reflecting the diverse and inclusive practices of our cohort. Join us as we explore inclusive practices from spaces and communities to workplaces and systems. Our individual exhibits have been classified into five categories, inspired by the ‘Five Elements’ in Taoism. The belief is everything in the universe is made of five elements: metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. These elements are interconnected and fluid. The focus is on ‘energy’ and ‘process’ and how all things can be inclusive and unified. In many ways, the journey to inclusion is reflective of this interconnected, fluid process.

This resource includes seven independent modules that focus on essential skills for engineering including how to find, understand, evaluate, and document information sources that are commonly used by engineers such as journal articles, patents, standards/guidelines, books, and webpages.

The resource has been created as a series of self-learning modules to support all undergraduate engineering students, regardless of their level of study. Since each online module focuses on building different skills, they can be used in combination or individually.

Exploring Movie Construction & Production contains eight chapters of the major areas of film construction and production. The discussion covers theme, genre, narrative structure, character portrayal, story, plot, directing style, cinematography, and editing. Important terminology is defined and types of analysis are discussed and demonstrated. An extended example of how a movie description reflects the setting, narrative structure, or directing style is used throughout the book to illustrate building blocks of each theme. This approach to film instruction and analysis has proved beneficial to increasing students’ learning, while enhancing the creativity and critical thinking of the student.

Cet ouvrage s'adresse à toutes les personnes désireuses de comprendre la démarche évaluative, ses enjeux épistémologiques et éthiques, et d'acquérir des compétences en recherche sociale appliquée. Il met en avant les concepts fondamentaux, appuyés par des écrits scientifiques, et propose des applications pratiques à travers des exemples et des exercices. Des études de cas viennent également illustrer chaque composante de la démarche évaluative.

In September 2022, students from Centennial College’s Community Development Work Program did a deep dive into the topic of waste. Students from the Sustainable Community Development class dug into these topics and produced a book exploring six different dimensions of waste: fashion, plastics in the ocean, e-waste, food waste, sewage, and medical waste. Small groups of students worked on each topic and came back together to teach each other about what they were learning. The class was made up of students from around the world, and so they researched the topic of waste in Canada, but also drew on their experiences to research the topics globally in countries like the Philippines, India, and China. Students also highlighted one article per topic that brought new perspectives to their research.

Each chapter illuminates both the problems that exist, and also the sustainable and innovative solutions that are being found. In the spirit of collaboration, these chapters were edited and published by students in the Centennial College Publishing Program and the Open Educational Resources (OER) Lab.
