Using the context of apples, students will apply their knowledge of heredity and genetics to distinguish between sexual and asexual reproduction as they explain how new varieties of apples are developed and then propagated to meet consumer demand for a tasty, uniform, consistent product. Students are asked to assist a production manager of a local school that will be producing apple pies as a fundraiser. Students need to understand rates and starting conditions to help schedule the right number of volunteers for each production station so that the maximum number of pies can be produced.

We use the derivative to determine the maximum and minimum values of particular functions (e.g. cost, strength, amount of material used in a building, profit, loss, etc.).Differentiation is also used in analysis of finance and economics.

This resource was created by Kayla Henery, in collaboration with Lynn Bowder, as part of ESU2's Mastering the Arts project. This project is a four year initiative focused on integrating arts into the core curriculum through teacher education and experiential learning.

This final lesson in the unit culminates with the Go Public phase of the legacy cycle. In the associated activities, students use linear models to depict Hooke's law as well as Ohm's law. To conclude the lesson, students apply they have learned throughout the unit to answer the grand challenge question in a writing assignment.

This unit introduces instructional moves for how teachers can use their classroom libraries for deep critical thinking on issues of race, racism, and inequality. This unit uses a middle school level novel Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry (Taylor, 1976), but the content objectives, teaching strategies, and activities are applicable to any novel study. Building upon how classroom libraries function as resources for thought provoking literature and discussions from the 2019 Yale Teachers Institute Seminar Teaching about Race and Racism Across the Disciplines, this unit primarily explores the historical context of the novel primarily using the language of music to analyze characters. Students will develop interpretations about how these conditions influenced characters’ traits, roles, or conflicts and construct a central thesis on a character of their choice. It incorporates pedagogical tools and resources expanding curricular strategies and provides a framework for student discussion beyond the text on issues about race, racism, and forms of inequality.

In this video Jonathan visits the New England Aquarium as a volunteer aquarist for a day to learn what it takes to care for thousands of fish in dozens of exhibits, up to the massive 200,000 gallon Giant Ocean Tank (GOT). What he finds is an eye opener‰ŰÓit‰ŰŞs not all fun and games. Maintaining an aquarium is serious work. But it does have its benefits, as Jonathan discovers while diving in the GOT and feeding the sharks. This segment won a New England Emmy Award! Porém, apesar da grande veiculação de matérias a respeito do assunto, inúmeros estudos em vários países apontam que os alunos de diversos níveis de ensino e professores têm uma compreensão limitada sobre a natureza e as consequências do aquecimento global. Por outro lado, estudos também apontam uma deficiência no ensino e no aprendizado sobre a fotossíntese, uma reação bioquímica bastante complexa de extrema importância para a manutenção da vida em nosso planeta, que está diretamente relacionada ao sequestro de carbono e consequentemente a mitigação do aquecimento global.
Nesse contexto, o viveiro de mudas educador da Escola Bosque, localizado na Ilha de Caratateua, distrito de
Outeiro na cidade de Belém, cidade que segundo o IBGE tem o pior índice de arborização comparada a outras
cidades brasileiras, torna-se um espaço privilegiado para trabalhar uma sequência didática sobre fotossíntese,
sequestro de carbono e mitigação do aquecimento global, apoiada na habilidade de ciências (EF07CI13) da
base nacional curricular comum.
A sequência didática estrutura-se em cinco módulos, iniciando com a problematização no módulo 1;
entendendo os fenômenos no módulo 2; o módulo 3 é destinado aos experimentos no viveiro educador; o
módulo 4 trata da montagem de mapas conceituais e da avaliação; a forma de socialização é tratada no módulo 5, ultimo módulo da sequência didática.

Arabic 4 fun includes five categories: alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, and fruit names. Within each category, there is an introduction which explains the lesson, three exercises (easy, medium, & hard), and a memory game. The memory game includes the words written out in Arabic. The user may self-study or watch the explained lesson.

This is a set of slides that are meant for novice students of Arabic.
1. The first set is a set of slides each for an arabic letter in its different shapes based on its position in the word. Sample words are given as an example for each letter position in the word. The vocabulary selected is mostly related to food and has been selected with novice students in mind.
2. The second is a set of two-sided flashcards. The front side shows the Arabic letter, while the back side shows its different shapes based on the position in the word. A sample vocabulary word is given as an example.

This webpage displays a common conversation between three friends. The structure and topics of the conversation are purposefully general so as to be helpful to students' ability to create and sustain conversations of their own. The conversation includes Arabic text, transliteration, and translation.

The Arabic Course Achievement tests measure reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, as well as grammar and vocabulary. The exams can be administered to students of all proficiency levels in PK-12 schools as well as college. The length of the exams is 1-2 hours and can be scored by a computer or a locally trained scorer. The intended test use can be for placement, credit by examination, achievement, and or fulfilling a requirement.

This page contains brief lessons about specific grammatical issues and focuses mostly on Egyptian colloquial Arabic, though it does also include some information about Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). Given their brevity, the lessons are of limited use.
