Lila Gray instills her own love of poetry in her students by encouraging them to write original works and finding poems that express who they are. Her weekly open mic sessions create a perfect venue for building confidence and helping students find their voice while still hitting core standards and learning lifelong skills.

A GNG collaborative project is a project-based learning activity that challenges students to work together to develop solutions to real-world problems. Within and across classrooms, students collaborate to identify a challenge in their local or global communities and develop a project that addresses the issue by promoting positive change and community engagement.

Andrea Kowalchik has her students move around the room in pairs while solving proportion problems that are tacked to the walls. This lesson is easy to prepare, fun for students, and gets them working quickly while being active all at the same time.

Learn how classroom teachers, artists and arts organizations are using the arts to teach social and emotional learning (SEL). Social and emotional learning gives students strategies on how to manage their emotions and how to collaborate and empathize with others. These are important skills that help students succeed at school, work, and life. SEL can be incorporated into any subject matter and any grade level, but incorporating the arts can be an especially effective way to learn and practice SEL.

This lesson prepares learners for posting marketing ad to Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. The lesson explores the benefits of marketing on social media and how to cater to different customers based on the platform's features and functionality.

Michael and Jim discuss emphasizing effort, getting students attention before asking questions, using response cards, and planning back-up activities.
