This lesson plan explores many ways animals help and support people including providing food, clothing, companionship, and service, as well as secondary benefits like soil conservation and fertility, and stabilizing farm businesses with diversification of risk. This project is a fun way for students to think about the four elements of the marketing mix through research of a product/service and breaking it down to examine each element.

Throughout this project, the students will create a drawstring bag. This project will take about five days (50-minute class periods) for students to complete. Everyday, students will begin with setting up their sewing machines and setting goals for the day. Students will follow the written and video instructions to complete the project. At the end of each day, students will reflect upon what they accomplished and what they hope to improve upon for the following day. As there are written and video instructions, students can move through the project at their own pace.  This project works well for middle school or as a project to refresh students on how to use the sewing machine and construction terminology in high school. 

Throughout this project, students will research historical influences on fashion through the lens of a fashion journalist. The lesson gives the students the prompt, “As a Fashion Journalist, you are constantly observing and reporting on the current styles and fashion trends. Your boss at the magazine, Today’s Trends, has tasked you with creating a mini magazine on the popular fashion trends of the past decade. (The trick here is that each student will be assigned a different decade - you are each placed at a different point in time!)” Each student will choose a different decade throughout history and then use reputable sources to create a mini magazine on Canva that features women’s clothing, men’s clothing, shoes, accessories, historical events, important individuals of the time, and more information about the given decade.  This multi-day lesson plan includes complete instructions for the project as well as a grading rubric. Suggestions for reputable resources are also included. Students are graded on including a variety of information and following the set formatting parameters.

Abstract
After-school club that teaches students the basics of music and drumming as a whole as well as learning the bucket-drumming piece entitled "Yuck!"

This OER "Dumplings" was created by Chen Zhang as part of the 2024 World Language OER Summer work and training. Educators worked with Chrystal Liu, Nick Ziegler, and Dorann Avey to create OER Learning Plans and materials. The attached activity is designed for 9-12 World Language Arts teachers for Novice Learners of Chinese. Students will explore the history, cultural significance, and preparation methods of Chinese dumplings, or "jiǎozi," including boiled, steamed, and shallow-fried varieties. They will analyze the origin and development of dumplings, build background knowledge to understand their cultural context and use relevant evidence from various sources to assist in their analysis and reflection. This activity addresses the following NDE World Language Standard(s): NE WL 12.1.6b, NE WL 12.1.6l, and NE WL 12.1.6o. It is expected that this activity will take students 90 minutes to complete.

This lesson is intended to provide Outdoor Education or Physical Education students an opportunity to learn how to use a dutch oven while cooking in the outdoors.

Overview:  This lesson is an exploration of dysfunctional team dynamics, and healthy traits of teams who overcome those negative influences.  Over five standard class periods, students will review dysfunctions of a team, watch 45 minutes of the movie Miracle, review healthy functions of a team, watch the remainder of the movie, answer discussion questions, and write a summative essay. This is a project based course designed to help middle school students explore career options using the Nebraska Career Education Model and understand the Nebraska Career Readiness Standards. The course is organized by three themes – Making it My Choice, A World of Options and Charting a Direction – with culminating individual and group projects. Students will define career clusters and pathways, describe examples of career readiness, utilize self-assessments to better understand interests, establish a career portfolio and create a personal learning plan to provide direction to high school and post-high school activities. This lesson introduces students to the three main types of economic systems, command, market, and mixed. Students work with limited knowledge, not knowing about mixed systems until the very end. This allows students to see the pieces of command systems and market systems that are present in the United States and in their “ideal” economies.

This lesson was made for use in a business classroom to teach the concept of economic utility.

The students will watch a video on the structure of the circulatory system, then they  will observe their heart rates and investigate how carrying extra weight affects their heart rate.
