This is the second volume in a series of four books, first published in 1919. The series treats Arabic grammar in a highly technical way and was written to expand up the foundational Arabic text, Wright's Grammar. This volume of Elementary Arabic is divided into four sections of readings, including extract from the Qur'an, stories of warriors, hadith, and historical extracts. It ends with a glossary and a grammatical analysis of the readings.

This is the third volume in Thornton's Arabic Series. It contains more advanced readings that have only limited footnotes to explain vocabulary and grammatical issues. According to the work's author, the passages presented in this book were selected and placed in chronological order for the purpose of demonstrating the social and literary development of Arab civilization during the classical period. This is the final text in Thornton's Arabic Series. It contains numerous literary extracts from classical Arabic sources along with explanatory footnotes. Selections come from the Qur'an, classical travel literature, poems, historical sources, some religious texts, grammatical texts, and biographies. A glossary is included.

The UCLA Phonetics Lab Archive includes samples taken from Egyptian, Iraqi, Najdi, North and South Levantine, and Tunisian dialects. The Arabic recordings consist almost exclusively of word lists read aloud to illustrate small differences in the pronunciation of the words. The Phonetics Laboratory includes recordings of hundreds of languages and provides them for free as source materials for phonetic and phonological research. Phonetic transcriptions are included alongside the recordings as are translations and scans of original field notes where relevant.

Each of the four dictionaries are available from both English to Arabic as well as Arabic to English or any number of other combinations with Arabic. The four dictionaries are the Universal Dictionary, Wictionary, Wikipedia, and Omegawiki. Wictionary is a free dictionary that gives definitions in 170 different languages. The dictionary only gives definitions within the language, not from language to language. Intended as a lexical companion to the encyclopedia project Wikipedia, Wictionary includes etymologies, pronunciations, quotations, synonyms, and antonyms where appropriate. Users can add definitions by creating an account. Certain words for Arabic also include masdars. An audio component is included for certain languages, Arabic not among them.

This website links to a document that is a dual translation of the Qur'an into English, first word by word and then sentence by sentence. Such a translation clearly shows where each word and its meaning is placed in the Arabic text if there is any confusion about the English translation of a particular verse. The document is available separately chapter by chapter under the 'lughat' button of this website and also for sale via Amazon, although downloading is permissible via this website.

The ACTFL Writing Proficiency Test is designed to rate students' writing skills and is offered for various languages, including Arabic. The exam can be administered to students at the ACTFL Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, and Superior proficiency levels who are in grades K-12 schools, college, or to those who are adults. The length of the exam is 90 minutes and it is available on-demand via the internet or in booklet form. It is rated by ACTFL Certified WPT Raters.

The Writing Proficiency Test in Arabic (WPTA) measures Arabic reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary skills. The WPTA exam is in intended for the use of college students as well as to professionals and other adults. It can be administered to anyone at any level of ACTFL proficiency level. The length of the exam is 1-2 hours.

Yamli Editor is a "smart keyboard" that allows users to type using a Roman-alphabet keyboard and transliterates the words into Arabic text. Users can type with letters, but also the numbers that are often employed in modern Arabic texting as substitutes for some Arabic letters (such as 3 for 'ein or 9 for SaD). Under the "quick tips" icon, Yamli offers a list of all the substitutions for Arabic letters that do not have exact equivalents in English.

Yamli Search enables users to search the internet in Arabic while using numerals and Latin characters. Yamli's search essentially runs transliterated phrases through Google's search engine, in order to allow users who have not memorized or activated the Arabic keyboard to search the internet in Arabic.

The Yemen Links Arabic Learning Materials page includes not just materials and printouts but ideas for games to play to get students to learn the alphabet, colors, and numbers. Materials available for free download include flashcards, coloring pages, handwriting practice, arts and crafts, and more. Although many of the games and materials are aimed at children, they can be adapted to classrooms at any level.

The Yemen Manuscript Digitization Initiative (YMDI) is a collective of research librarians and leading scholars of classical Islam, Middle Eastern history, and Arabic Literature whose mission is to preserve the Arabic manuscripts in the private libraries of Yemen. This website is the home page through which users can explore more than 100 digitized manuscripts, including topics such as law, arithmetic, medicine, Islamic studies, and more.
