Fieldwork 1: How we communicate through gender role socialization and child rearing. Observation of gender role socialization and child rearing at an activity or specific place, where it is not a single family gathering or your family. It must be an observation done now and not from memory.

Fieldwork 2: This fieldwork observation focuses on how symbolic capital is deployed in discourse and provides an opportunity to gain greater insight into how language and other nonverbal and symbolic cues communicate gender, ethnicity, values, status and power in subtle ways.

Acceso is a complete, interactive curriculum for intermediate-level learners of Spanish. Arabic Online offers a large quantity of information about Arabic grammar divided up into "lessons," grouped by topic. The grammar sections contain many charts to help promote understanding. The site provides a vocabulary section with a large number of word lists grouped by topic.

This guide is for students who wish to get an idea of what speaking proficiency is, what the guidelines are for speaking proficiency, and what kinds of outcomes can be expected after different amounts of Arabic study. It can also be used by instructors who are looking for similar information. Examples of students at different levels are provided, as are rater comments of the examples. The website includes a list of resources for further instruction and information regarding oral proficiency.

This site contains numerous audio, and video files, grouped by topic, of subjects speaking Jordanian colloquial Arabic. There are also a few images and informational links interspersed throughout the site. Each video is available for download and accompanied by an Arabic transcript and an English translation. Videos are based on every day topics like greetings, farewells, shopping, and transportation.

Aswaat Arabiyya is an archive of 245 videos in Arabic, listed by difficulty level and accompanied by glossaries and four worksheets each that focus on every aspect of listening comprehension. Selections come largely from Arabic media, with some cultural presentations by native speakers. Videos cover the entire Arabic-speaking world and include MSA and different dialects. Materials are designed to be used both as in-class activities and homework assignments. Videos can be slowed down.

MIT researcher Deb Roy wanted to understand how his infant son learned language -- so he wired up his house with videocameras to catch every moment (with exceptions) of his son's life, then parsed 90,000 hours of home video to watch "gaaaa" slowly turn into "water." Astonishing, data-rich research with deep implications for how we learn. Deb Roy studies how children learn language, and designs machines that learn to communicate in human-like ways. On sabbatical from MIT Media Lab, he's working with the AI company Bluefin Labs. A quiz, thought provoking question, and links for further study are provided to create a lesson around the 20-minute video. Educators may use the platform to easily "Flip" or create their own lesson for use with their students of any age or level.

The Center for Educational Resources in Culture, Language and Literacy (CERCLL) at the University of Arizona is one of the 15 Language Research Centers established across the nation under Title VI of the U.S. Department of Education. CERCLL researches culture, language and literacy with less commonly taught languages. The center also strives to provide educators with teaching resources and opportunities for their professional development.

This site houses a large number of very brief audio files in which native speakers say brief, useful, every day phrases in a number of conjugations. Phrases include things like "How much is this?" "How are you?" or simply reciting useful vocabulary and also cover numbers and time. Each phrase is spoken in 8 or 9 dialects from the regions of North Africa, the Levant, and the Persian Gulf. Every phrase is accompanied by a transcript.

Critical Language Service offers playlists with video lessons that explain the material in Alif Baa, Al-Kitaab 1 (through lesson 11), and a series on Egyptian vocabulary. Videos designed for the Alif Baa series focus on stories to illustrate new vocabulary while the series designed for Al-Kitaab explains grammatical concepts introduced in the books, and demonstrate proper pronunciation. They also offer a playlist of 60 cartoon episodes in Arabic.

Educational Stories of Dictational Rules are sixteen stories and activities in slideshow format. These stories were made for students with learning disabilities. Short vowels, long vowels, the letter ta, double vowels, prepositions, and the letter hamza are some of the explained topics. The slideshows start with a story, state the grammar rule, and end with some exercises. The slideshows are enhanced with audio components.
