This best practice report pertains to exploring the challenges and processes surrounding to support organizations in promoting inclusion through ICT by ensuring the procurement of accessible platforms that will support the access needs of PWD within the environment.
This course entitled “Introduction to Assitive Technology Typesand Categories" was prepared and designed by Mada Center, Qatar. It is part of the program : "Introduction to ICT Accessibility and Inclusive Design".

5. Electronic kiosks and automated teller machines (ATMs)
6. Text and video relay services for the deaf
Mada Assistive Technology Portal is the first digital platform specialized in assistive technology in Arabic. The portal provides a wide range of information, resources and assistive technology services to enable and support the independence of persons with disabilities through accessible information and communication technology ICT.
Mada’s Glossary is the first dictionary of its kind, which includes terms related to ICT accessibility and assistive technology (AT) in the Arabic language. The Glossary was developed to serve as a vital resource for capacity building within ICT services, accessibility, and assistive technology in Qatar and beyond. Mada’s Glossary is essential to educate professionals, researchers, and individuals interested in the basic terms used in these fields. It is considered one of the first initiatives to provide such resources in Arabic.
This portal provides a repository containing policies, laws and regulations related to ICT accessibility as a reference for legislators and policy makers, locally, regionally, and internationally. The purpose of this portal is to achieve inclusion by advocating for ICT accessibility policy adoption and development, in order to actively promote an inclusive ecosystem for people with disabilities in line with international best practices and within the framework of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD).
The purpose of Mada innovation program is to encourage innovators to bring relevant innovative Arabic assistive technologies and accessibility products and services for Persons with disabilities and the elderly.
Nafath aims to be a key information resource for disseminating the facts about latest trends and innovation in the field of ICT Accessibility. It is published in English and Arabic languages on a quarterly basis and intends to be a window of information to the world, highlighting the pioneering work done in our field to meet the growing demands of ICT Accessibility and Assistive Technology products and services in Qatar and the Arab region.
Tawasol symbols represent a symbol dictionary of frequently used words in spoken and written Arabic communication. The symbols are represented by images and pictograms.
The purpose of Unified Arabic Braille Portal is to present the Arabic Braille table in math and science signs/ symbols, as well as to develop the first eight-dots Arabic computer braille table to take benefit of its multiple features, such as writing or reading a single code in a single cell and supporting some computer signs.

يعتبر الأشخاص ذوو الإعاقة من الفئات الهامة في المجتمع والتي تساهم في التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في الدولة. كما يعتبر إشراك هؤلاء الأشخاص في التدريب حقًا أساسيًا لهم لضمان لتطويرهم الذاتي وتنمية مهاراتهم العملية بما يحقق العدالة في المعاملة وتكافؤ الفرص تماشياً مع اتفاقية حقوق الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة التي صادقت عليها دولة قطر في سنة 2008 .
إن هناك العديد من العوامل التي تؤثر سلباً على الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة وتجعلهم عرضة لانخفاض مستوى احترام الذات أو انعدام الثقة في قدراتهم ومنها استبعادهم بشكل فعلي من العديد من الأنشطة الاجتماعية وقلة الفرص المتاحة لهم للحصول على التعليم والتدريب وبعض الخبرات الحياتية مقارنة بنظرائهم من غير ذوي الإعاقة. ولهذا السبب كان من الضروري معالجة هذه المشكلة من خلال دمج وإشراك الأشخاص من ذوي الإعاقة في البرامج التدريبية وتشجيعهم على التفاعل والمشاركة الكاملة وتوفير الترتيبات التيسيرية المعقولة لهم لتمكينهم ولإزالة الحواجز التي تعيق مشاركتهم.
وسنقوم في هذا الدليل بتسليط الضوء على أحدث الطرق والأساليب المتبعة في مجال تدريب الأشخاص ذوي الإعاقة والتعامل معهم وكيفية جعل البيئة التدريبية شاملة وقابلة للنفاذ.
