Recently, Yukon, Canada has experienced huge growth in First Nations cultural revival as well as an influx of newcomers brought on by the growth of the education, industrial and tourism sectors, who are also interested in learning about Yukon First Nations peoples and their cultures. The need for academic teaching materials that can educate adult learners about Indigenous peoples of the Yukon has resulted in the publication of this handbook. ECHO is meant as a teaching tool that provides the most current research pertaining to Yukon First Nations peoples on topics such as archaeology, ethnology and traditional lifeways, and relationships with newcomers (in the past and currently), as well as the arts. With a focus on topics that are relevant to students learning about Yukon Indigenous peoples history and culture, such as collaborative research with anthropologists, the history of the Yukon, and, most importantly, an overview of the modern-day land claims movement. Although generalized material on Yukon First Nations is provided within other publications, these are primarily out-of-date and out-of-print books. Videos

Images for videos come from the following sources with voice over from Professor Richard Gosselin at Houston Community College who is solely responsible for their content. There are 179 videos for the macroeconomics course with an average run time of about five minutes each. They were produced using three sources - desktop screen capturing via Screenflow which is a product of Telestream, as well as One Button Studio and the Learning Glass for live in-person mini-lectures filmed in a studio. Nearly all the video have been closed-captioned for the hearing impaired using professionals rather than automation. There are also downloadable transcripts embedded for each video and a download feature for users. Houston Community College footed the expense of the closed-captioning service. I would like to thank the college administration as well as Ruben Duran, Senior Media Developer at the college for assisting with this.

Test Bank

The original test bank provided by Open Stax provided 1158 questions, 955 were multiple choice and 203 were short answer questions. Under this grant there were no additional short answer questions added however, there are now 1418 questions in the new test bank which is the result of adding 260 questions of the following variety - multiple choice, fill in the blank, numerical questions, multiple drop-down questions, multiple-response questions, matching and formula questions which present each student with different values and parameters. Images in the test bank, unless otherwise noted are licensed under the Creative Commons and most are the product of unknown authors.

The book looks at the George Floyd uprising using the theory of the Black Radical Tradition and Black Marxism. Part of a global wave of rebellions against the police, inequality, and the state, the 2020 uprising opened up a new chapter in the revolutionary history of the proletariat. Erupting in Minneapolis in late May, the uprising spread across the United States. Over the course of the next few months, dozens of police stations were attacked, hundreds of cop cars were burned, and thousands of stores in downtown urban centers were looted. The Black proletariat led the charge, but other racialized proletarians joined the fight, demonstrating new possibilities for multi-racial struggle. At the same time, this uprising was contained and repressed by a Black led counterinsurgency that played a definitive role in neutralizing the revolutionary potentials of the movement. Furthermore, there were clear limits to the uprising when it came to gender. When it was time to rebel for Breonna Taylor, few were willing to fight as hard as they had for George Floyd. These and other uncomfortable truths are considered in the opening text, “Race, Class, and Gender in the 2020 Uprising.” Aside from wrestling with these contradictions, Insurgent Possibilities documents the Walter Wallace Jr. rebellion in Philadelphia, where the Black proletariat refined the tactic of looting by car, one of the greatest tactical innovations of the uprising. “Cars, Riots, and Black Liberation» is a first hand reflection on this phenomenon. Insurgent Possibilities also argues that the tensions and contours of the 2020 riots indicate the unique relationship between civil war and revolution that is so pronounced in the United States. Building off of the analysis set out in earlier texts, “Prelude to a New Civil War” traces the mounting hostilities of the uprising back to the unfinished business of the first US Civil War. The last text in the collection, “Fire on Main Street,” looks at how the uprising played out in small cities and suburbs throughout the country, focusing on the strategic implications that these peripheral areas pose for questions of insurrection and revolution.

This subject is an introduction to various forms of culture in East Asia (focusing on China, Japan and Korea), including both traditional and contemporary examples.
