ChangED is an educator based podcast for Pennsylvania teachers to learn more about the PA STEELS Standards and science in general.  It is hosted by Andrew Kuhn, Tony Mirabito and Patrice Semicek.  This episode features Ken Zimmerman discussing the benefits of student-centered learning and its transformative effects on both students and teachers. This study focused on understanding how and to what extent school leaders shift their vision of school technology leadership as a result of being exposed to theoretical, practical, and empirical data focused on school technology leadership. Prior to the intervention, educational leadership doctoral students were asked to write their vision statement for school technology leadership. After completing a three-credit hour graduate level course developed around the National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators (NETS-A) (ISTE, 2011), the students were asked to revise their vision statement. Pre- and post-treatment analyses were conducted to determine the depth of conceptual shifts as measured by the technology leadership standards. The researchers found that each student experienced shifts in their vision that more closely aligned to the NETS-A.

Under the Planning Resources and Examples tab, there are course cartridges for an Intro to OER course that introduces faculty to Open Educational Resources and planning resources for OER adoption. We have divided the address into four sections according to the function of each one. This division follows the classic structure of argumentative writing:

For close reading we have analyzed eighteen of the speech’s seventy-one paragraphs through fine-grained questions, most of them text-dependent, that will enable students to explore rhetorical strategies and significant themes. FreeReading is an open source instructional program that helps educators teach early literacy. From Communication Apprehension to Relaxation and Emotion: How Including Indian Content in Speeches Facilitates Delivery

This OER will describe the journey of students taking the Public Speaking class at Aaniiih Nakoda College during the 2006-2014 period. In this OER, I share lesson plans as well as best practices learned, and how the inclusion of Indian content helped students to conquer their fear of public speaking and to share their sentiments about topics that mattered to them.

The 200-inch Hale Telescope (historically known as the “Palomar Telescope”) at the Palomar Observatory in California represents an amazing feat of engineeringand ingenuity, the result of decades of trial and error.The primary sources in this project describe the last great hurdle in the Hale Telescope’s construction: successfully transporting the 40-ton, 200-inch mirror and its packing materials from upstate New York to the top of Palomar Mountain in southern California. This project is designed for advanced middle school or high school students. It contains a suggested project that puts students in the role of problem-solvers, with students using the actual data points drawn from the 1947 primary sources. Students will learn how to work with a formula, and to manipulate the formula’s variables to achieve different outcomes.

Students will learn about the water cycle, watersheds, and specifically, the watershed that feeds Springfield, Oregon. After analyzing drought maps, reading news reports, and seeing images and videos, students will realize that drought is a real life concern. Students, as concerned citizens, will create a water collection device, at first on a small scale, and then a true to life water collection system to help re- purpose rainwater in our garden area.
