Healthy Communities in Fulton County, Illinois (HCFCI) was a collaborative project with the primary goal of improving access to health information to enable the public to make informed decisions about their health. The project included a web portal, community health fairs, and public librarian training. Project materials are being shared as a possible model for other community health education outreach projects.

This lesson will help teachers learn to teach students how to watch a video for learning rather than just passively watching a video for entertainment, or for assignment completion.

We know where our students come from, but where are they going? What are their goals, and how can we help them achieve them? In this workshop, we will discuss discovering these items through dialogue and body language, as well as taking a critical look at our programs. Are we helping students as much as we can? What can we do TODAY to help them achieve their final goals?

This lesson plan, from the University of Wisconsin-Madisons Wisconsin Fast Plants, is for a high school biology investigation into evolution and artificial selection while using Fast Plants polycot seeds. The lesson plan describes student science performance for in-classroom learning as well as distance learning, and assessment for student learning. Additionally, this resource includes a sample calendar to demonstrate how educators can implement this investigation into their classroom. The History Engine is an educational tool that gives students the opportunity to learn history by doing the work—researching, writing, and publishing—of an historian. The result is an ever-growing collection of historical articles or "episodes" that paint a wide-ranging portrait of life in the United States throughout its history, available in our online database to scholars, teachers, and the general public.The History Engine project aims to enhance historical education and research for teachers, students, and scholars alike. It allows undergraduate professors to introduce a more collaborative and creative approach to history into their classrooms, while maintaining rigorous academic standards. The History Engine gives students a more intimate experience with the process of history. Participants who work with the History Engine project learn the craft of an historian: they examine primary documents, place these documents in a larger historical context using secondary sources, and prepare cogent analysis of their sources for the public eye. Finally, the History Engine provides a way for professors to take advantage of digital technology in their classrooms while maintaining rigorous academic standards. The cumulative database provides all the easy-access and searchability of other websites, but also subjects its contents to a careful academic screening process on the part of library staff, archivists, professors, and teaching assistants.

In 2023, Washington State passed legislation designating January as Americans of Chinese Descent History Month, the first-ever in the U.S. Public schools are encouraged to designate time in January for appropriate activities in commemoration of the lives, history, achievements, and contributions of Americans of Chinese descent. Students have created posters specifically intended for use in schools and classrooms. These posters serve the purpose of acknowledging and illustrating the historical timeline of Americans of Chinese descent in the United States, including highlighting significant events in that history.The posters are available in 11"x17" or in 24"x36". Districts can upload their own logo in the corners.

Hodges’ Health Career (Care Domains) Model provides a conceptual framework upon which users can map problems, issues and solutions across four knowledge domains: Interpersonal; Sociological; Scientific; & Political (Autonomy). The public may also be taught to use the model, enabling engagement, understanding and concordance in planning and outcome evaluation.

Students who regularly complete and turn in homework assignments perform significantly better in school than those of similar ability who do not do homework (Olympia et al., 1994). Homework is valuable because it gives students a chance to practice, extend, and entrench the academic skills taught in school. Parents can be instrumental in encouraging and motivating their children to complete homework. This homework contract intervention (adapted from Miller & Kelly, 1994) uses goal-setting, a written contract, and rewards to boost student completion (and accuracy) of homework. Students also learn the valuable skills of breaking down academic assignments into smaller, more manageable subtasks and setting priorities for work completion.

This lesson from the National Agriculture in the Classroom Matrix is designed to teach students about the parts of honey bees, the stages of the lifecycle, and the role honey bees play in pollination.
