This activity is a good review for adult or teen ESL learners on time clauses. The movie, In Time, is set in a futuristic world where time is the currency. After ten questions on what happens before or after another, there are three interesting discussion questions.

This course introduces students to the theory and practice of modeling phonology, with an empirical focus on modeling the discovery of static phonotactics, the discovery of alternations, learning in the midst of variation and exceptions, and the discovery of gradient patterns. This course is also intended to provide hands-on experience with various aspects of using and developing models, including preparing training data, running simulations, and interpreting their results.

This Lesson Plan was created by Molly Simpson. The attached Lesson Plan is designed for Grade 3 English Language Arts students. Students will understand and use 3rd grade level vocabulary, use creative thinking skills to write a short story, proofread and edit their own work, and publish a final copy of their written work. The Lesson Plan addresses the following NDE Standards: NE.LA 3.2.1.D, NE.LA 3.2.1.H, NE.LA 3.2.1.J, and NE.LA 3.2.2.D. It is expected that this Lesson Plan will take students about 120 minutes to complete. 

This video series consists of 5 videos in which the instructor (from the Sibaway Institute) goes through two traditional proverbs, word by word, and translates them. He explains and references several Arabic and English grammatical concepts while doing so, attempting to teach both translation skills and grammar at the same time.

This new open educational resource is for Elementary Italian. Our goal is for this book to be comprehensive, user-friendly, inclusive, and cost-effective. Tutt* a tavola has two parts, one for each course, with six chapters in each. Generally speaking, each chapter addresses three to four grammatical topics and includes a vocabulary section related to a cultural theme. The vocabulary is also incorporated into the grammatical presentations and exercises. There is also a short reading in each chapter regarding different aspects of culture and language, to address those questions of diversity and inclusion that are often missing from the textbooks we have used in the past. To include more culture, we have also included multimedia: each chapter begins with a song that is used as a starting point for the inductive presentation of the chapter’s content, and ends with a video (a film clip, an interview, social media) that summarizes the ideas covered.

Tá Falado includes 46 podcast lessons on the pronunciation and grammar of Portuguese, specifically designed to help those who already speak Spanish. The lessons are built around Portuguese dialogs that are repeated in Spanish, providing a direct comparison of the two languages. All lessons include downloadable PDF files with the transcripts and notes, mp3 audio files, and blog discussions. Additionally all of the dialogs present cultural scenarios that illustrate differences between North American and Brazilian culture.

This lecture will discuss common grammar errors and stylistic weaknesses in college students' writing--including problems like run-ons, misplaced and dangling modifiers, and illogical tense shifts--and will suggest ways to revise confusing sentences and paragraphs.  The lecture is offered here in three different formats: video without captions, video with captions, and a full transcript.

ESL lesson plan for use in orientation to videconferencing platforms such as Zoom and Google Meet. Students practice using microphone mute/unmute and the chatbox to report about the poeple in their homes and read about their classmates' homes using the present progressive tense.

It features clothing-related vocabulary that is a bit more specific (collar, high heels), as well as useful adjectives to describe clothes. Vocabulary – BodyThis is a great lesson plan for students of all ages and professional backgrounds. In this lesson, your students can practice major parts of the body (head, back, shoulders, knees, etc) and how to use them in simple sentences. This module refers to elementary school, students’ level A1-A2, 5th grade. The module has 3 vocabulary activities about the weather and 3 grammar activities about adjectives. The last section is a short film for keeping students interested and relaxed, for rewarding them for all the effort they put through the module and of course discuss thoughts and opinions. This module is a combination of listening and speaking, focusing on new vocabulary and grammatical phenomenon. It is multidirectional and has a variety of activities to not only students learn but also to have fun. The videos, one at the beginning and the other one at the end, play significant role, same objectives but different perspectives.
