This paper addresses online and open education. It presents a simple, yet comprehensive framework that can be adopted by any higher education institution in seek of: (1) clarification of terms and concepts related to online and open education, (2) awareness of issues and challenges to set up strategies for online or open learning, (3) informed choices and their impacts on operationalization actions, from an institutional point of view, (4) perspectives on crucial issues, such as mobility, that HEI faces in a context of internationalization, (5) awareness of policymakers and teachers on what open and online education is.

Open education is a term you have probably heard, but do you know what it means? As its name suggests, it relates to two concepts – openness and education – but it means a whole lot more. What are its aims, benefits and limits? This guide offers a number of tips and avenues for action to help answer these questions and encourage you to make the most of open education. There is a strong focus on open education in the Louvain 2020 strategic plan. UCLouvain wishes to align itself with a vision of the future and the need to share resources, practices, knowledge, tools and more in order to improve access to education, including outside the confines of the University, and education itself. The open education movement is already well established at UCLouvain. Many teachers have shown an interest and have already embraced it. What about you? This guide is intended to help you navigate open education. It explains concepts such as Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), Open Educational Resources (OERs), OpenCourseWare (OCW) and Creative Commons (CC) licences.
----------------------

Bonne lecture !

An Online Lab Manual for Neurophysiology

This lab manual is a series of illustrated, printed lab handouts for my neurophysiology course. It provides videos of procedures, color diagrams, large photographs, and links to supplementary layers of information that go far beyond what was feasible in a printed manual. Each lab module is self-contained and they are intended for use without restriction by colleagues at other colleges. I hope it will encourage others to take similar steps in their own courses, and I hope also that sharing these self-published materials will contribute to an increasing trend of sharing online resources within the neuroscience teaching community.

In 2017, Ke Xin created the HelpYourMath website and HelpYourMath OER YouTube channels. What started as a way to help Borough of Manhattan Community College(BMCC) students get the extra help they need in math, developed into what it is today.

HelpYourMath operates as a non-profit and donation-sponsored, free educational source also known as an Open Education Resources (OER). With support from the college and the exceptional work and dedication of volunteer professors, tutors, and students, we have been able to create full curriculums for various college mathematics courses. The OER team was established and continues to grow every year.

HelpYourMath is an entirely self-functioning open source content site and channel. Although HelpYourMath was initially made to tailor the needs of the BMCC math curriculum, we are prepared to help students around the world from all walks of life. Our OER team believes that sharing is caring, and we are delighted to work with you.
