Students will read the complex text on pest damage and use the outdoor space to verify or deny the content of the text in the real-world setting.This activity was created by Out Teach (out-teach.org), a nonprofit providing outdoor experiential learning to transform Science education for students in under-served communities.

This was my inquiry-based project that focused on forming arguments and gathering appropriate sources on the topic of banned/challenged books. This lesson plan includes the driving question, grabber, and culminating activity for assessment.

The "Into the Book" web site is designed to help elementary students practice eight reading comprehension strategies through playful interactive activities. The site focuses on eight research-based strategies: Using Prior Knowledge, Making Connections, Questioning, Visualizing, Inferring, Summarizing, Evaluating and Synthesizing. "Behind the Lesson," the teacher area of the site, provides information, lesson plans and other resources for teachers.

For use with Grade K and Grade 1 of the K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block. Differentiation Packs can be used as a resource for planning differentiated small group instruction for students whose microphase aligns with work from a different grade level. This resource includes a comprehensive word list, key cycle information and texts for each grade level cycle, suggested instructional practices, poems, decodable readers, and handwriting sheets.

Learning Letters is a collection of all of the K-2 Reading Foundations Skills Block curricular materials related to learning about letter names, sounds, and formation. The contents include the research behind EL Education's approach to teaching letters, Letter Stories (engaging read-alouds, one for each letter of the alphabet and consonant digraph ("ch", "sh", and"th"), upper- and lowercase Keyword Cards (a colorful picture of the animal or object associated with each letter, and Handwriting Sheets (letter formation and handwriting practice sheets).

This critical document lists all trade books that schools and districts must purchase to implement the EL Education K-5 Language Arts Curriculum and includes the specific texts and quantities (e.g., one per classroom, six per classroom, one per student) required.

Help Spanish-speaking English-language learners unlock the mysteries of their new language by using a bilingual book to recognize unfamiliar words and construct meaning from the text.

Students are asked to write a brief essay to their new ELA teacher advising them of their likes/dislikes of the course and thier interest in being in the advanced class.

The interactive explores the ways that poets choose line breaks in their writing. After viewing the demonstration, students are invited to experiment with line breaks themselves.

 The attached Remote Learning Plan is designed for Grade 7 English Language Arts students. Students will learn the different literary terms found in literature and poetry. They will have opportunity to practice their understanding of these terms by playing a number of online games. Students will then determine which literary device is being used in lines of literature and poetry through the practice at the end of lesson. This Remote Learning Plan addresses the following NDE Standard: NE LA 7.1.6.cIt is expected that this Remote Learning Plan will take students 90 minutes to complete.

 The attached Lesson Plan is designed for Grade 7 English Language Arts students. Students will be reminded of the different literary devices by listening and watching a video that has a catchy beat. Students will then show what they know with 10 lines of poem which includes literary devices. If they are still uncertain of all the devices, another video is available to them to watch. The last section gives them the opportunity to look for literary devices being used by the author in Freak the Mighty. When students become aware of these devices, they will write them down, label them, and then explain how the device made the reading better.
