Artificial Intelligence (AI) promises to offer tremendous opportunities for service excellence, creation of newer domain of employment avenues, and in the process augment industrial and economic growth for countries. The question, however, is India ready to embrace AI and pave for a new technology revolution? India’s history does indeed support this possibility. In the past, starting in the late 1980s, India successfully clasped the computer revolution bubble and took almost a decade to become an information technology (IT) leader in the world. Today, the Indian IT sector contributes significantly to the country’s GDP and is among the highest employment opportunity provider in the country. The journey of India as an IT major, however, has not been without its ups and downs.

What is the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) in the world of scholarly communication? What impact does AI have on the practices and strategies of publishers, libraries, information technology companies, and researchers? What exactly is AI and what are those in the realm of scholarly communication actually thinking about it and doing with it?
This Charleston Briefing seeks to provide some answers to these very important questions, offering both general essays on AI and more specific essays on AI in scholarly publishing, academic libraries, and AI in information discovery and knowledge building. The essays will help publishers, librarians, and researchers better understand the actual impact of AI on libraries and publishing so that they can respond to the potentially transformative impact of AI in a measured and knowledgeable manner.
"Charleston Briefings: Trending Topics for Information Professionals" is a thought-provoking series of brief books concerning innovation in the sphere of libraries, publishing, and technology in scholarly communication. The briefings, growing out of the vital conversations characteristic of the Charleston Conference and Against the Grain, will offer valuable insights into the trends shaping our professional lives and the institutions in which we work.

This resource is a video abstract of a research paper created by Research Square on behalf of its authors. It provides a synopsis that's easy to understand, and can be used to introduce the topics it covers to students, researchers, and the general public. The video's transcript is also provided in full, with a portion provided below for preview:
"Artificial intelligence is transforming our way of life. Able to spot patterns invisible to the human eye, algorithms are learning how to make our lives easier, safer, and more fun. That power is not lost on materials researchers. During the next decade, artificial intelligence or AI-driven research could fundamentally transform how new and better materials are developed. What’s more, it might even revamp how materials research itself is carried out, enabling promising new materials and processes to be developed more quickly. Machine learning methods come in a variety of flavors, with some requiring more guidance, or “supervision,” from researchers. But, generally, a machine-learning algorithm designed to discover and understand the behavior of materials looks for patterns connecting the composition, structure, and properties of known materials..."
The rest of the transcript, along with a link to the research itself, is available on the resource itself.

MIT researcher Deb Roy wanted to understand how his infant son learned language -- so he wired up his house with videocameras to catch every moment (with exceptions) of his son's life, then parsed 90,000 hours of home video to watch "gaaaa" slowly turn into "water." Astonishing, data-rich research with deep implications for how we learn. Deb Roy studies how children learn language, and designs machines that learn to communicate in human-like ways. On sabbatical from MIT Media Lab, he's working with the AI company Bluefin Labs. A quiz, thought provoking question, and links for further study are provided to create a lesson around the 20-minute video. Educators may use the platform to easily "Flip" or create their own lesson for use with their students of any age or level.

In an era defined by rapid technological advancements, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative force in education. However, the successful integration of AI into a school district’s strategy requires careful planning, preparation, and evaluation. CoSN's collection of resources helps districts in their AI implementation.
“Culturally Responsive Computing” is a groundbreaking textbook that addresses the critical intersection of technology and cultural diversity in our increasingly interconnected world. This comprehensive guide delves into how cultural contexts influence every aspect of computing, from the fundamentals of programming languages to the intricacies of human-computer interaction.
The book begins by exploring the cultural dimensions of core computing concepts, including data types, algorithms, and information security. It then expands into more complex topics such as artificial intelligence, user experience design, and the ethical considerations of technology deployment across different cultural landcapes.
Key features of the book include:
o In-depth analysis of how cultural factors impact technology’s design, implementation, and adoption worldwide.
o Exploration of computational thinking techniques that promote inclusive and culturally aware problem-solving.
o Practical strategies for developing culturally sensitive user interfaces and accessible design practices.
o Case studies from diverse global contexts illustrating real-world applications and challenges in cross-cultural computing.
o Ethical considerations in technology design and deployment focus on respecting cultural differences and promoting digital equity.
o Interdisciplinary connections, linking computing concepts with insights from anthropology, psychology, and other relevant fields.
This textbook is an invaluable resource for computer science students, software developers, UX/UI designers, and technology professionals seeking to create more inclusive and globally relevant digital solutions. It challenges readers to think beyond technical specifications and consider the broader cultural implications of their work.
By bridging the gap between technological innovation and cultural understanding, “Computing Across Cultures” prepares the next generation of tech leaders to build a more equitable and culturally responsive digital future. It is an essential read for anyone looking to thrive in the global tech industry and make a positive impact through culturally inclusive computing practices.

Cyborgs and Centaurs provides a guided approach to the academic research and writing process for first-year composition students. The book incorporates generative artificial intelligence prompts and exercises to strengthen learning, explore ethical concerns, and develop a personal writing process.
This book will provide you with the resources you need to be successful in English 102: Writing and Rhetoric II. It remixes material from Write What Matters, a modular textbook that I co-created with Joel Gladd and Amy Minervini as part of the 2020-2021 OPAL Fellowship for the Idaho State Board of Education. The text’s title is meant to provoke some thoughts about why and how we write. What will academic writing look like in the age of generative AI? Though we will undoubtedly see some changes to the writing process, research supports the development of durable skills that courses like this one promote.
More important, with the rapid advancement of generative artificial intelligence, our writing processes are changing in fundamental ways that we will explore throughout the course. LLMs can be incredibly helpful, and they were designed to be that way. They were not designed to be truthful though. Critical thinking skills are more important than ever in the age of generative AI.
