Our age-appropriate classroom lessons and activities for grades K-12 aim to deepen your students' understanding of September 11 and develop their critical thinking skills. The guide, written by Morningside Center executive director Tom Roderick, also includes recommended books and other teaching ideas.

This resource was created by Rebecca Kerber, in collaboration with Dawn DeTurk, Hannah Blomstedt, and Julie Albrecht, as part of ESU2's Integrating the Arts project. This project is a four year initiative focused on integrating arts into the core curriculum through teacher education, practice, and coaching.

The anniversaries of the terrorist attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001, and the signing of the Constitution on September 17, 1787, provide us an opportunity to reflect upon who we are as Americans, examine our most fundamental values and principles and affirm our commitment to them, and evaluate progress toward the realization of American ideals and propose actions that might narrow the gap between these ideals and reality. The following lessons are designed to accomplish these goals.

These lesson plans and activities were developed by Janine Darragh, Gina Petrie, and Stan Pichinevskiy and were previously located on the Reaching for English app. Created for K-12 English teachers in Nicaragua, the materials may be used and adapted for any country's specific context and needs. 

This collection of resources is intended to support the OER Commons resource "Historic Games: 9 Men's Morris." In that resource, Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum's Director of Education Deb Rantanen teaches how to play one of the most popular board games from ancient times up to the United States' Colonial Era: Nine Men's Morris. Along the way she'll also share some of the history of where the gameboard has been found.

Coders will trigger sound blocks to play a musical instrument made out of different sprites. The purpose of this project is to review creating sprites and triggering sound blocks when a sprite is tapped. Another purpose of this project is to also introduce remixing.

The curriculum was developed in two documents. The first document is the instructor’s
guide. This guide leads the instructor through units, a sample teaching calendar, all lesson plans,
lab instructions, and student worksheets. The second document is the student’s guide. This
document includes all note taking guides, activity sheets, and lab sheets the students will need to
be successful in the course.

This course aims to increase understanding and knowledge of our food and fiber system, giving a starting point for students to explore pathways and occupations related to the agriculture industry, and gain hands-on experience learning basic agricultural practices. This English Language Arts lesson for 9th or 10th graders focuses on reading comprehension and vocabulary via nonfiction articles linked from commonlit.org, and addresses the following NE state standards: NE.LA 10.1.5.A; NE.LA 10.1.5.C; NE.LA 10.1.6.A; NE.LA 10.2.2.BThe lesson will take approximately 90 minutes.

Students will use a perceived weak material to construct something that is surprisingly strong.
Students can experiment with different shapes and configurations to see what holds the most weight.
The cube size is defined, what each student places within each 4x4 square, is up to them.
