This toolkit is designed to help Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) create and maintain effective strategies with multilingual families. We explore and model best practices for the use of technology in teaching, as well as for assessing and communicating with diverse adults. The following guide is applicable for face-to-face, blended, and online instruction, and can also serve as a toolkit.

OSPI and DCYF collaborated to compile resources useful to the Preschool Development Grant Transitions initiatives including:100 Schools Reach Initiative: local community early learning- elementary school partnerships pursuing Wildly Important Goals in strengthened transitions for children birth through kindergarten.Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Partners in Transition: Scaffolding for districts to implement all five pillars of TK in collaboration with community-based early learning programs to support an array of options for four-year-olds to best meet individual needs.PreK to 3rd Grade Outdoor Learning and Since Time Immemorial: Early learning collaboration to support high-quality outdoor environmental and tribal cultural learning.

The funds of knowledge concept was originally applied by Vélez-Ibáñez and Greenberg (1992) to describe the historical accumulation of abilities, bodies of knowledge, assets, and cultural ways of interacting that were evident in U.S.-Mexican households in Tucson, Arizona.

The Global Digital Library (GDL) has been developed to increase the availability of high-quality reading resources in underserved languages worldwide where there is currently a lack of quality early grade reading resources. The site primarily hosts reading instruction books and storybooks for leisure reading, but the GDL will also link to more interactive resources, such as literacy games.

The Washington Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction hosts Graduation: A Team Effort (GATE) Equity webinars that help growth minded educators and education advocates to learn from Washington districts who are closing opportunity gaps. Watch archived sessions on OSPI's YouTube playlist.

A collection of eight art lessons (puppets, visual arts, music) that integrate social emotional learning for grades K-2. Written lessons provide step-by-step instructions to be done at home. Lessons were created by Arts Corps teaching artists. Lessons are available in English and in Spanish.

This site allows teachers to find supplemental listening materials for academic themes. Here you will find links to podcast episodes and corresponding worksheets. Approximate CEFR Levels have been included for each podcast episode and its corresponding tasks. Teachers are welcome to download worksheets and use them as is or adapt them for specific class needs or objectives.

Part of a larger Civic Education Project, this instructional resource establishes the link between public participation and effective government. Colorful graphs, historical photos and thought-provoking illustrations help to describe the basics of government, and the connection between a governing authority and culture and economy. Young readers and adults alike will gain a robust sense of past and present tribal governance and their relationship to state and local government in Washington.
