This resource was created by Cheyanne Jessen, in collaboration with Dawn DeTurk, Hannah Blomstedt, and Julie Albrecht, as part of ESU2's Integrating the Arts project. This project is a four year initiative focused on integrating arts into the core curriculum through teacher education, practice, and coaching.

This is a multi-day lesson about Creation aimed at kindergarten students or lower elementary.  It does not use a lot of computer assisted technology in deference to the abilities of these students and the possible lack of one to one computers at this grade level. 

This template is meant to be a guide for Nebraska Physical Education Teachers when creating digital online lessons. Headings and/or topics not included in the lesson plan should be marked N/A.

In the context of current discourse about literacy, the California Association for Bilingual Education (CABE) has developed a theoretical framework to support educators in the pedagogical clarity and critical awareness necessary to reframe bilingualism as an asset and to cultivate literacy and biliteracy. With so much research and discourse which does not include current research and best practice for multilingual learners and programs, CABE’s framework seeks to include biliteracy in conversations around literacy. Our visual metaphor of a tree is a reminder of the organic nature of literacy, the unique features of the bilingual brain and the assets our multilingual learners bring, the themes of effective literacy from the CA ELA/ELD Framework, and how the teaching and learning environment and high leverage instructional strategies can effectively cultivate biliteracy.

This critically appraised topic delves into the effectiveness of the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing (LiPS) program in kindergarteners with reading difficulty due to suspected delays in phonological awareness skills.

This critically appraised topic explores the following research question: with children under the age of five, what types of parent coaching strategies will most greatly aid in the further development of pre-literacy skills?

Students will practice counting and identifying less than, greater than, and equal to. This is a supplemental practice activity to use in conjunction with a mathematics curriculum, not the total lesson itself. The game can be played with a teacher as an intervention, between partners during whole group, as a center activity, or sent home to be played with parents/family members. Game board, crocodile mouth pieces and a letter to be used if sent home are attached.

According to Montenegro & Jankowski, 2017, culturally responsive assessment is an assessment that is mindful of the student populations the institution/school serves, using language that is appropriate for all students when developing learning outcomes, acknowledging students’ differences in the planning phases of an assessment, and being intentional in using assessment tools and results to improve learning for all students.  This module will provide explicit instructions to guide your thinking about the relationship between assessment and instruction.The goal of this course is to introduce K-12 Educators and Higher Education faculty to using standards and assessment alignment to support all types of learners.

A resource for teachers who want to create a website for their classroom.  Three platforms are explored in this lesson:  Weebly, Wix and Google Sites.  The "why" of having a class website as well the "what" to have on the class website are parts of this lesson.  In this lesson teachers will be participating in the Connect-Extend-Challenge Activity.  For this activity, the teacher will consider what they have just read and seen in the lesson and then ask themself:How are the ideas and information presented connected to what you already knew?What new ideas did you get that extended or broadened your thinking in new directions?What challenges have come up in your mind from the ideas and information presented?
