With sustainability goal 10, reduced inequalities, we wanted to research inequality through different mediums. We felt that when most people hear inequality, they immediately think of wealth and class differences. While we did explore that, we also wanted to expand from those and explore inequality by how it affects one's safety, if security is dependent on wealth, also access to resources, a focus on mental health and physical wellness, as well what we can see visually and how that it in itself has a negative rippling effect.

This course provides a review of physical, chemical, ecological, and economic principles used to examine interactions between humans and the natural environment. Mass balance concepts are applied to ecology, chemical kinetics, hydrology, and transportation; energy balance concepts are applied to building design, ecology, and climate change; and economic and life cycle concepts are applied to resource evaluation and engineering design. Numerical models are used to integrate concepts and to assess environmental impacts of human activities. Problem sets involve development of MATLABĺ¨ models for particular engineering applications. Some experience with computer programming is helpful but not essential.

Did you know marijuana can cause some people to lose focus on events around them? It makes others more aware of their physical sensations, and it has still more effects on other people. All these different changes are caused by chemicals that affect the brain. More than 400 chemicals are in the average marijuana plant. When smoked, heat produces even more of them!

"And We Still Rise": Open Pedagogy and Black History at a Rural Comprehensive State College

In Spring 2019, students at The State University of New York College at Plattsburgh (SUNY Plattsburgh) researched, designed, and built And Still We Rise: Celebrating Plattsburgh’s (Re)Discovery of Iconic Black Visitors (ASWR), an exhibit in the Feinberg Library on prominent Black political and cultural figures who had visited the college since the 1960s. The thirteen students in African-American Political Thought (Political Science 371), taught by Dr. John McMahon, researched in the college’s archives and secondary sources to curate photos, text and multimedia for physical and virtual exhibits.

The activity to be completed in class is referred to as the “Lego Person Challenge.” It is a game in which the class is divided into separate groups to compete against the other teams to complete the challenge (to recreate a Lego model) as fast as possible. The challenge is designed (through gamification) to allow for all four of Bartle's player types to have a chance to demonstrate their traits and capabilities. The different components of the activity highlite different individual aspects of the participants, and allow for dynamic learning. This activity can only be completed in person, as intragroup communication and physical actions are integral.

CS Discoveries 2019-2020: Interactive Animations and Games Lesson 3.7: The Draw Loop

In this lesson students are introduced to the draw loop, one of the core programming paradigms in Game Lab. To begin the lesson students look at some physical flipbooks to see that having many frames with different images creates the impression of motion. Students then watch a video explaining how the draw loop in Game Lab helps to create this same impression in their programs. Students combine the draw loop with random numbers to manipulate some simple animations with dots and then with sprites. At the end of the lesson students use what they learned to update their sprite scene from the previous lesson.

Elementary Ergonomics is an introduction to basic physical ergonomics theory and practice for students of other - than Industrial Design Engineering of Delft University of Technology - institutes for higher learning, such as Dutch universities, universities of EU and non-EU countries, and universities of applied sciences. The course consists of the following topics: anthropometry (1D, 2D, 3D including digital human modelling), biomechanics, and comfort.

Furthermore, the role of user involvement in the design process (evaluation of existing products and environments and of created concepts, models and prototypes) will be explained. Moreover, the meaning and representation of use cues in product design will be highlighted.

This lab has two purposes. First, it introduces students to topographic maps (including latitude/longitude, map scales, contour intervals, and relief). Second, it introduces students to a river system that they will be studying throughout the semester, and begins preparing students to collect and analyze data from the field. The topographic maps are used to look at topographic characteristics of the river, such as its gradient and its longitudinal profile.
